tightrope I like the French verse, too...sort of. But being a French teacher, I can't help but be irked by the glaring error (to me!) in it. Jeff gets bonus points for making an effort, though! What's the error, eloneen ? "Accrochez-toi" is indeed the error, mixing the verb form for the formal form of address with the pronoun for the informal form ; and to make matters even worse, the official lyrics say "Accroches-toi," which would sound correct, but is spelled wrong and is grammatically incorrect, since the s is dropped from the second person singular command form of ER verbs. The correct phrase is "Accroche-toi." OK folks! I'm on Spring Break!! Enough with the French grammar questions, alright? (Even though I LOVE French grammar and I brought it up in the first place. )

"Accrochez-toi" is indeed the error, mixing the verb form for the formal form of address with the pronoun for the informal form. You mean that if you used accrochez, you should then use vous? Like voulez-vous? I have 0% French in my life.

fernandoamado Absolutely correct!! You meant to say 0% French in your life...so far, right ? It's never too late my friend, never too late.... (Ah, you got me! Another grammar question...!)

The perks of having a teacher among us! Thanks for the explanation, eloneen. Every day you learn something new. Bah, that's a cliche, most days you learn nothing new but today I did. See, you already got a new pupil, nerdy I'd bet, learning fast and eager to squeeze the knowledge out of you.

By the way, fernandoamado, have you seen my latest masterpiece on the Matt Bellamy thread on the "Open discussion" section? I'm sure such an avid fan of the genre as yourself wouldn't want to miss that. (please don't punch me!)

nerdy I'd bet, learning fast and eager to squeeze the knowledge out of you. Hey! That's so... True. By the way, does anybody know an app or any program that writes down a song's lyrics? There's a French song I love since I was 14 and its lyrics aren't on the net. I've been singing 'dadadada' ever since.

I know an app that's ideal for that. It's online, it's free and it's called EloneenWritesDownYourLyrics. I think you can get it on this forum. smileys-whistling-823718
Seriously, I've never heard of such a software, but if it could be invented, I doubt it would work well. It's hard enough for the computer to write down things as you speak, and you need to speak clearly... imagine when singing, that on top of the singer's relaxed pronunciation there's the issue that you cannot dissociate the sound of the voice from that of the instruments...

No promises, though. I sometimes mis-hear lyrics in English, my first language. vlogdance is also fluent in French, so she might be able to offer some help, too. unomusette speaks French as well, but I guess I'm the designated authority on French on the forum...

Great! The song is 'Un vent de folie - Richard Lory' (Richard Sanderson) You're helping me a lot, eloneen. I'm very grateful for it! Thank you!!

It's funny, I hated it in the late '70's but now I really like it, it's pure fun. My favourite track off Alone in the Universe is One Step At A Time which also harks back to the disco era - I think it's Jeff's secret guilty pleasure
