eloneen: One thing's for sure: we will not be facing the level of devastation unleashed on the Bahamas! For that, we can be grateful!

Helmut83: eloneen, how terrifying! It feels like every single year you guys in that area have to bear stuff like this. I know about the tornadoes basin and tornado season there but was it always like this? Or has it intensified during the last few years? Stay safe!
Sept 3, 2019 2:32:25 GMT
eloneen: Thanks, Helmut83. We have had quite a few damaging hurricanes in our area lately. Sometimes there are worse storms in the Gulf of Mexico, sometimes in the Atlantic. Fran and Floyd in the 1990s and Hugo in 1989 were horrendous in NC and/or SC.

eloneen: The most alarming thing right now is that the storm has not moved for much of the day and is still a Category 4 sitting over the Bahamas all this time, dumping rain and lashing it with winds 140+ mph...I cannot imagine! ::m1506::::m1506::::m1506::
Sept 3, 2019 3:06:14 GMT
eloneen: Thanks BIuebird! ::hug:: I hope it spins out into the sea soon!

unomusette: Yes, hopefully it will use up its strength before it gets near you, stay safe eloneen and dig into your burrow if it comes anywhere near you. It's so unlucky for the Bahamas that the storm is so slow moving, why couldn't it have done that out at sea?
Sept 3, 2019 20:12:22 GMT
eloneen: Thanks unomusette. It's on the move now, at least, but unfortunately it seems to be heading towards our coast, which is a couple of hours from where I live. We expect to experience some of the effects in our area, probably late Thursday and into Friday.

eloneen: I'm further inland now with my mother, away from the path of the storm, on our way to a family gathering in another state..."somewhere far away." Back home, "the rain is falling," (I think).
Sept 5, 2019 4:28:47 GMT
unomusette: I think you might be glad you took that trip eloneen
Sept 5, 2019 21:34:16 GMT
BIuebird: I hope you are staying safe and dry, eloneen! I also hope there is no storm damage back home. ::smileys-hugs-765537::
Sept 6, 2019 12:29:24 GMT
eloneen: Thanks BIuebird Hubby says it rained a lot, but things are OK and the young man had to go to school today, so we missed any major impacts of the storm, thank goodness! ::hug::
Sept 6, 2019 19:42:59 GMT
BIuebird: eloneen Oh good, it's such a relief that you all came out unscathed! ::smileys-hugs-765537::

Horacewimp: I’m glad you all remained safe eloneen ::m0121::
Sept 7, 2019 7:23:00 GMT
eloneen: Thanks BIuebird and Horacewimp . ::hug:: Last I heard, there were hurricane warnings for Dorian in Nova Scotia! I hope our friends along the rest of the Atlantic Coast have fared OK.

eloneen: At the tribute concert, waiting for the show to start. I have advised the folks on my row about my enthusiasm.
Sept 14, 2019 22:57:38 GMT
eloneen: Superb evening w/ANWR! "Just got back from the downtown palais, where the music was so sweet it knocked me right back in the alley." "The change from night to day is really only hours" and "sweet is the night," so I'm going to bed. I'll elaborate later.
Sept 15, 2019 4:27:00 GMT
Horacewimp: Glad you had a good concert
