Me again. I'm probably going to regret this, but how big do spiders actually grow in Argentina? I'm going to hide behind the sofa.... Where I live they are more like the British kind, quite moderate, but in other places like the northern provinces of Salta and Jujuy you can put a saddle to them and ride them around. Here's two photos I took of a spider I had the pleasure of meeting at my family's land (province of Buenos Aires, like 300 kms. from my home... I was just about to grab the metal bar you see there). Like I said it is nothing compared to our northern spiders but for this zone it was among the biggest you'll get: Do you regret your question? If no, I can post a picture of a spider from Salta...

That's a hell of a beautiful... cactus, yes... God bless that pair... of hands that are holding it. Hey, you better stare down a little (at your keyboard) as well or you'll keep on spelling things like "catcus".

What about spiders in Toledo, BSJ? Are they big? Do you meet them frequently? Do they behave themselves?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! I was just going to bed! Why oh why oh WHY did I come back here and see that spider? I bet it doesn't have any predators - unless the birds are correspondingly huge of course. Only picturing the lovely cacti will soothe me, great pics!

And yes, we have some enormous birds which would eat those spiders as a snack. The good thing is that most of them can be bred as pets. Sweet dreams!

The largest I've seen in these part are over 2 inches and hairy. I scoop spiders up and throw them out-doors. tk6 is afraid of them and kills on site. I know! A Storm Trooper! Beautiful colors on yours, @helmut. unomusette and tk6 !

Introducing my two new lodgers who moved in today. Richard Sandy is on the left, Mik Kalahari is on the right. Richard rather likes being near the piano book, but I might have to move them both to the window sill soon. Apparently Richard will get yellow flowers in the summer. Mik may be too shy for that, but I think he'll have his admirers. They send spiky waves to Louis Sharp and Mr Bissonette, and respectful nods to Wilf.

Ha! You took it very seriously I see! They send spiky waves to Louis Sharp and Mr Bissonette, and respectful nods to Wilf. Hey, why are they leaving Heat McDroughtwell aside when sending spiky waves around the globe? I thought string players used to have kind of a fraternity between them...

Must say I'm much impressed by Richard Sandy's oriental onion dome shape, so exotic. And it looks like Mik Kalahari is joining in the appreciation with a big "yay!"

I think we need to see photographic proof of the existence of Heat McDroughtwell...he might just have been made up (gasp! surely not?)
