For everyone concerned with spiny green linguistics - I found this on the website Grammarist.com. Couldn't find a collective noun, but how about "a spike of cacti"? Glad you posted it vlogdance ! I'm slacking off here! I looked it up last night, too, and found that same article, but was I so excited about the Wembley DVD that I forgot to go back and post it.

There was a political joke doing the rounds many years ago in Oz about the collective noun for cactus; the suggestion was caucus. (To explain, one of the major political parties here is run by an executive called a caucus; therefore a group of cactuses equals a bunch of pricks which equals a caucus). Best I could do. unomusette - that crab's claw plant is magnificent!

Going off topic slightly, what I don't like is when people say that Latin must be upheld because it's the right way to say things but the same people then argue about not using apostrophes and such like because they are meaningless.....

Was an example with "anus" really necessary?

I just realized as he was watering them just now that all of the little plants that Mr. Eloneen has brought home recently are cacti. And there are six of them, so with our fuzzy friend Kelly Grow/Cut we now have the Magnificent Seven Cacti! I'll definitely have to give them all names and post a picture soon... Stay tuned!
