Pre-order due 18/8/23 by "Juno Records" or "Punk to funk heaven" ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA LIVE ON AIR 1972 COMPACT DISC DIGI Item no. :LCCD5148 Barcode :5053792514816 Artist :ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA Product type :Compact Disc Digi Label :LONDON CALLING Release Date :18 August 2023 DESCRIPTION TRACK LIST Lynne’s sleek symphonic pop pastiche of his 50s and 60s musical heroes has inevitably stood the test of time considering the legacy and success of the Electric Light Orchestra. Born on the same West Midlands streets that spawned the Moody Blues and Black Sabbath, ELO concocted an altogether different beast where progressive pop met symphonic rock to create a global success story. These early performances offer a rare glimpse into what the original vision was for the Electric Light Orchestra and the journey thereafter with two extremely gifted songwriters rewriting their own destinies in the process. London Calling presents the Electric Light Orchestra in a spectacular set featuring the band’s first ever broadcast performances from 1972 for TV and radio. Presenting fully restored and professionally remastered broadcasts with background notes and timeline photos. ‘Sounds of the 70s’, BBC Studio, Birmingham 14th February 1972 BBC radio Hosted by Bob Harris 1.10538 Overture 2. Horacewimp , did you check out the cool T-shirts on the Punk to Funk site? They have got some good stuff, Mrs Wimp already thinks I’ve enough t shirts, maybe for my next birthday.

Is this an officially sanctioned released? That's what I was thinking, what with Jeff's unwillingness to acknowledge ELO's past this seems to be an unusual step if it is.

Haven't these recordings been released before? The ones from Granada TV have been uploaded to YouTube with separate videos for years now, then as "Set of 6" in 2019! "For the first time ever, view the full episode of Set of Six with Electric Light Orchestra! This is the only surviving footage of ELO with Roy Wood with the band. This footage has been available in parts for some time, but the full episode has never been available until now. The audio was quite sub par from the video source I found, so I used Electric Light Orchestra: First Light and the 'Total Rock Review' Documentary to fill in the available gaps (about 85%) with better quality audio. Nevertheless, it is in fantastic quality considering we still do not have an official release of this historic artifact. If you'd like more information of this performance click the link below!" www.jefflynnesongs.com/setofsix/Electric Light Orchestra (w/ Roy Wood) - Granada "Set of Six" Full Performance 1972 [HD]

Is this an officially sanctioned released? This is probably going to be the first of several "grey area" titles we'll see over the next few years, though I've a feeling at least some of these recordings were officially released in the last 50 years and therefore wouldn't have fallen into public domain, unlike those off-air Idle Race sessions that flooded the market in various configurations starting around 2019.

Is this an officially sanctioned released? It's pretty obvious that it's not. Just look at the long list of other releases this label deals in: www.discogs.com/label/1329842-London-Calling-2The lack of care and attention given to the sleeve art probably tells you how much time they put into the "fully restored and professionally remastered broadcasts with background notes and timeline photos." It's the equivalent of the dodgy live bootlegs we used to hunt out in the 80s and 90s. If that's your bag, great, but given their costs involved (zero royalties, lifting material generally available elsewhere) it's way overpriced in my opinion.

Were these releases even worth it? I won't be shelling out any dollars until we have some good feedback.
