Fantastic! THANK YOU, H W! I didn't know it had a poster until a few months ago! Didn't buy when it came out. I, on the other hand, have 3 albums (I buy if in good shape) and one for you is on it's way in a week. Included is the insert adverting T-shirts. The second best place for a Jeff autograph is in an album. Think I'd let this one go by!!!

Ohhh many thanks that sounds great, I wonder if I can still order a t shirt at 1979 prices. Just think Jeff's autograph has been keeping the poster safe for you for some 37 years, if it was in a frame this wouldn't have happened.

Fell in love with my sisters blue vinyl Mr Blue Sky (it is now mine)...she had also bought telephone line (also now mine). So first ELO album ...bought by my Uncle Mal - Out of the Blue. As he gave it to me he complained about the price it cost in woolworth but it mattered not...from turn to stone through to wild west hero I was smitten....
I paid back my sister by asking her to accompany me to the ELO recording for TFI Friday last year...

I got "Out Of The Blue" back in 1982, April 4th as a present for my 14th birthday. My mother bought a copy together with me in a record shop in Rotterdam. For weeks on end I would listen to nothing else. Sometimes I woke up in the middle of the night, put my headphones on and listened to the magic of these incredible songs till the break of dawn, because I just couldn`t stop. Since then I have been deeply in love with the music of Jeff Lynne. The following months I bought every single album from the back catalogue and in 1983 I bought of course "Secret Messages" on day one of its release. I did the same with "Zoom" in 2001 and "Alone In The Universe" last year.

All Over The World in 2005, as a birthday present from my sister. Then we bought Discovery, in 2006.

I know my older brother gave me a copy of ANWR, but if I remember correctly, I think I actually won a copy of OOTB on a radio contest. I won quite a bit of loot with my middle brother that way. I don't know which ELO album I actually bought first. This brother and I used to call in to several of our local radio stations throughout the summers of 1977 and 1978 because they were running those "first caller wins" contests and we were at home and we were bored. We would just call the station starting in the morning after breakfast until we got a ringing phone, and we would call throughout the day. We would take turns holding the line. 75% of the time, they would just let it ring until they were ready to give away an album from their "album library" or some other fun prize. When they did answer before the giveaway, we would just make a song request from a list we had drawn up, and then we would call again until we got a ringing phone again. It was great fun for us at the tender ages of 12 and 13 years old. We did the same thing sometimes in the afternoons once school started back up. Stations started saying 7th caller wins, 3rd caller wins, etc., and then it was not fun anymore! Some stuff we didn't even go to pick up because we didn't really want it, for example a Bachman Turner Overdrive concert pack: album, tickets, tee-shirt and a backstage pass. We had absolutely zero interest in that band, but pursuing the prize was a thrill. Later on, I felt bad that we might have deprived a real fan of the pleasure of winning it. I hope they gave it to someone else. So there you have it, a true tale from my sordid past!

Never won a thing from those contests. It was fun to try, though.

New World Record was my first and still my all time favorite by any band. Had a paper route and finally had enough money to buy albums instead of singles. First 4 purchases were Eagles - Hotel California, Fleetwood Mac - Rumors, ELO - New World Record, and Springsteen - Born to Run. All of these in the 2nd half of 1976 which has to be the absolute pinnacle of the classic rock era.
