The Big Night and Time! So cool!! did you see the spaceship? I never saw the original ELO. Only Jeff Lynne's ELO. We should start a thread "Who WENT where?" There was no spaceship. They used it every other show because it took so long to set up and dismantle. Seems that's what they were doing in the Uk last year too... every other show got it. I hope we get a spaceship in the US.

I had never seen this performance before, but I'm pretty sure I've seen still photos from this show.

This young dude does a nearly 15 minute video about how much he loves ELO. I watched the whole thing and really enjoyed it... the power of good music!!!

And, look, he has a cactus with a name, too! (Who's Brian, though?) This kid's certainly one of us!

"New World Record, recorded somewhere in "munnick", um somewhere in Britain I guess" ELO is like crack to an adolescent brain (as many of us know all too well!) love the way he moves his head side to side talking about the synth bass on Last Train to London but "Brian hasn't said a word, yet" worries me a bit - it's like Tom Hanks talking to that soccer ball (Wilson) don't let the music pull you into the vortex - "I didn't mean to stay so long" - go outside and play or ... just join the fan club

orioles70 Maybe instead of "I didn't mean to stay so long," the young man should have said "I only meant to stay a while," "I've gotta get outta here," or "I really should have gone." If you haven't done so already, check out the "Cactus named after ELO members" thread!

One of my favorites. Love Jeff's emotion and messing with the micropone. Also Jeff's looking dapper in that suit.

I love the end when he's walking out and he skips down the steps, the movement of his hands.

"RockaRRHEA!" indeed - he makes it sound like a digestive problem.
But good to see someone of his age discovering ELO. A Jeff-style two thumbs up.

ELO songwriting tips from Ben - looks like he has good taste in music, sharing tips from ELO, Queen, Pink Floyd, ... the song doesn't steer far enough away from MBS, imo but I enjoyed hearing him talk about our favorite singer, songwriter, producer, ...

I had never seen this performance before, but I'm pretty sure I've seen still photos from this show. That is at New Victoria Theatre, London in 1976 also known as Fusion, first released on 2010's Eagle Rock DVD, Live: The Early Years! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live:_The_Early_Years

In my opinion, this is the band's best video. Tells a nice little story, and the guys really seem to be enjoying playing their roles. Just not sure how I feel about Jeff's facial hair, and Kelly's hat.... We agree! The previous year, David Bowie had released his "Ashes to Ashes" music video which was considered as the most innovative to date at that time. But Electric Light Orchestra were largely regarded to have surpassed that with their music video for "Hold on Tight". At the time it was the most expensive ever made at around £40,000 - Source: UK Midlands Central TV News, August, 1981, thanks Ade.

I bought it for the Rockpalast show but it's all good stuff on there.
