He needs to call the band 'Bev Bevan's ELO' just to see what sort of chaos it would cause. I bet he'd sell the tickets quickly

Whoa now, ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ , please leave Mr P-Hux out of this. A fine songwriter. And a true admirer of Jeff Lynne.

After cancelations, band name and member changes I finally got to see Bev Bevan last night at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock. The name of the band is now Bev Bevan’s Zing Band with members Geoff Turton (Rockin Berries), Abby Brant (Quill), Phil Tree (Roy Wood) and Tony Kelsey (Robert Plant/Steve Linwood/Quill). Before I left home I had a psychic Horace moment, I thought I must take a pen along tonight so I can get Bev’s autograph, I didn’t know how this would happen I just knew the opportunity would arise, so in my pocket went the biro. I picked up my brother and we headed over to Cannock, parked the car and walked the short distance to the Theatre. As we approached the entrance it was blocked by about four people who then got out of our way and exited the Theatre, I couldn’t believe it, it was Bev (and I guess his wife and two friends), shocked I said “Hi Bev, how you doing could you sign this please” Bev answered “no problem” and signed both my ticket and the back of a Move flier I had put in my pocket along with the biro earlier in the evening. I asked him what songs they were playing he said, “wait and see but there might be some Black Sabbath” and laughed. I said thank you, and have a good gig and off he went to the side door of the Theatre. My brother and I just looked at each other smiled and said did that just happen!! Then we both said together “shit, we didn’t take any photos” it all happened so quickly and unexpectedly we didn’t have time to think. We entered the Theater and were told the support act had just started so we walked in front of everyone and took our seats on the front row. The support was Ricky Cool & The In Crowd, never heard of them before but they are highly recommended all very good musicians. The interval came and we had a beer in the bar and I spotted someone in the distance, it was Keith James Sinclair from the excellent web site Beatles Forever I went over and introduced myself and told him of the forum. Keith was aware of it but not a member hopefully he will join soon!! We took our seats for Bev Bevan’s Zing Band, but not before I took a picture of the set list so I had an idea of what was upcoming. The main act started, again they were all great musicians and Bev’s drumming was as loud as ever, between songs both Geoff and Bev would tell stories from their past before playing another tune. There was a great mix of songs from Move, Beatles, Black Sabbath and ELO to name but a few. The show closed with Mr. Blue Sky, no one can match Bev’s drumming on this song it sent goose bumps down my spine, this went into Don’t Bring Me Down, the band said their thank you’s and then played Gimme Some Loving as an encore. I grabbed the set list (a front row prerogative) and I said my goodbyes to Keith and off we went, my brother and I agreed it was a great evening, if you get the opportunity to see Bev Bevan’s Zing Band then don’t let it pass you by, you will only regret it.
