I posted in the "Pugwash: It's nice to be nice" group (Facebook) this message: " The Feeling announce they are going on Tour with ELO. Why not PUGWASH???" I must confess I'm really surprised and disappointed too...

Not a bad choice.

The Feeling!! This is a decision that already seems to be dividing opinion but as far as I'm concerned it's a fantastic pairing!! I've always liked their music since reading an interview with them that explained that the 'Twelve Stops & Home' album was influenced by the likes of ELO, Supertramp and 10cc in other words, my favourite bands.
The prospect of a truly great night of live music has just got even better!!

The Feeling are definitely a good choice for the support band... Apart from being self-confessed ELO fans, I expect this particular song will go down a treat if they decide to play it:
Considering that is one of their most popular hits, they'd be crazy not to dust it off for the occasion. Speaking of which, did I imagine someone hinting to me that negotiations are ongoing for a very special reunion to coincide with Jeff making his first major hometown appearance in 30 years? I really wish I could say more, but I don't think this was meant to be common knowledge ahead of an official announcement (assuming Bev and Roy can put their differences aside, that is). Whoops!

Sounds interesting, especially as I'm going to the first B'ham date.

This is excellent news. The Feeling are the ideal band for the job.
This news neither excites me nor disappoints me. I am in the middle, which is good! Good that I won't be worrying about anyone upstaging Mr Jeff or worrying that somebody who I REALLY wanted to see (Tom perhaps) would make a pigs ear of the task and I would end up being upset with them. Good that Jeff won't be let down by a bunch of clueless losers who wouldn't know the meaning of the word "melodic pop" if it hit them on the face.
Being the support band to any artist is always a thankless task and to be Jeff Lynne's support act is even more thankless. At least the tour-arrangers have played their cards right here. The Feeling are perfect and, as I mentioned in my earlier post, match the criteria of a band fit for the task as they are totally compatible with the ELO sound yet will not upstage him and people will certainly not feel it's pointless their turning up.
Who knows, maybe Jeff himself had a hand in their being chosen? To be honest I thought they had split! I liked their singles when they were huge (are they still huge?) but they seemed to disappear before I could get bored with them. A great Radio 2 favourite - because, let's be honest, if Jeff's support wasn't big on that station they will have hired the wrong group!
I'm sure The Feeling are the prefect choice and will give Jeff the best warm up he could ever get. The crowd will certainly be ready for the great man after their act.
What really surprises me is that Jeff hasn't worked with them (yet!).

I said before that I'd seen the feeling at the Albert Hall. That was a gig supporting Squeeze for the TCT.They upstaged Squeeze on that night a little. And they divided the Albert Hall audience in to a four part harmony group for "Never be lonely" which was great fun.I think they'll be pretty good. And to the people who aren't sure.Well .Be open minded, give em a chance. You never know you might like em!

I have to say I was surprised to hear The Feeling are the support act, they would not even have been on my list of guesses. I have seen them play at free gigs and they are a good band with some catchy tunes, I like them. Good choice.

Great News. A good energy band. Seem like a good fit. And the hint of "Special Guests" A Move reunion! Now who will open for Jeff's ELO at the HollyWood Bowl? The American "Leg" of the Tour. Can we get a Wilbury Reunion! Stay Tuned!

What an honor it must be for these young men to be opening for a legend such as Jeff Lynne!

I'm happy with this choice, The Feeling are a quality act not some group from the lower reaches of the record label and I think they'll do the job a treat. I would have liked to have seen Pugwash take the slot, but they sound so much like ELO there might have been an element of upstaging VERY interested to find out what goes down on June 24th though

If there is something special planned for that Birmingham gig ( and if it does involve Bev, Jeff would have had to have made a huge, and frankly doubtful, volte face in attitude, especially since the Uncut interview last month) I would assume that is the gig they will film for a DVD.

fourlittlediamonds , do you have the link? Went back to your Thread about their fallout looking for it. Sorry BSJ I read it in the physical copy of the magazine. I can't find it published anywhere online except their website where you have to subscribe to the digital edition to read it. You should still be able to get a copy of it (Feb issue) if you want, from them or elsewhere.
