a lovely cover indeed! I was expecting one of the old standards. Was quite nice to hear it stripped down to a simple keyboard and vocal. not only does she describe herself as a "big Jeff Lynne fan" but she's got a song snippet called "My Wild West Overture" which leads off her "Wild West" album seems like a very Jeff thing to do

I heard Don’t Bring Me Down on the radio twice today, once after a mention of the concert. Not complaining about hearing ELO on the radio, but I do wish they would play more songs than literally just DBMD.

A nice surprise - the book I'm currently reading just mentioned ELO. The novel is How To Be Famous by Caitlin Moran. It's the story of a girl named Dolly who works as a music journalist in London. In this extract, Dolly's having an interview with the editor of The Face magazine, hoping to get work with them. (I assume the line about "fact-checking" is a joke, since the editor also got the name of the song wrong!)

At the record store yesterday I heard Starlight. A nice surprise since they were playing a mixtape containing multiple artists that it made it on there.

9.30 today BBC Radio 2, the first song on Ken Bruce's show was "Hold on Tight", Good old Beeb still playing ELO. It's a shame some commercial stations (one big one in particular. Think body part) who pride themselves on playing 80's music tend to ignore ELO who had a few 80's hits. Just saying.

Our school librarians have been playing oldies in the library since the kids finished up a few days ago and it's just teachers and other staff on campus now. I went into the school library today to do the end-of-the-year return of materials checked out in the fall, and, to my delight "Mr. Blue Sky" was playing! (Never mind that it's gray and drizzling here today.) I got very excited, of course, and one of my colleagues said "Look at her, she knows all the words," to which I replied, "Not just that one! I've been a fan since I was a child!" I then proceeded to tell her all kinds of cool stuff about ELO. She's old enough to remember them from "back in the day" so she was interested and intrigued by my enthusiasm!

Last night, pulled into Tesco's car park right next to a car blasting out "Mr Blue Sky". Took my time getting out so I could listen and wait for the end of it to see if it was on CD or the radio. Sadly just as it got to the choral bit he got out locked his car and went to do his shopping. A man with good taste I think

I've made a bunch of ELO vids back in the day, I'll post some more if I can find them. This is the one for mission I made over ten years ago when the re-release of 'A new world record' (yea, I made a little error in the title of the vid...) was just released! Hope you like it!

Caught Hold on Tight on the radio yesterday. Rolled down my windows & cranked the volume up. Perks of having a drivers license—no one there to tell me to turn it down! Haha
