I see a lot of people talking about how old Jeff is and how grueling the tour is going to be. This is the kind of thing that really bugs me. If he is not capable of touring, then he shouldn’t. My guess is he is a millionaire many times over and probably doesn’t need the money. These tickets cost a lot of money and I fully expect him to go out and play at 2 1/2 hour show because that is the minimum that should be played for a major artist. Oh how I hate such arrogant, selfish comments. Has it ever occurred to you that this could be his thank you to the fans, which was originally supposed to take place in 2020? By the way, Jeff Lynne explained in connection with Wembley 2017 why he is usually only on stage for 90 minutes. Selfish and arrogant?? Oh how I hate that hurtful comment Seriously, all I am saying is that if I have to commute 1 1/2 hours each way to a show and pay $330 for a ticket (at MSG) then I should expect the show to be longer than 90 minutes. I do not believe that is arrogant or selfish. I'm not asking him to play a marathon show, just one of a reasonable length considering the price. Maybe that is the plan, which would be great as it would allow us to hear songs we haven't heard in past tours.

I'd love a load of weird and wonderful album tracks to be played but that's not going to happen not least because the entire show and lighting and some of the music, including backing vocals is digitally choreographed, to the point where it's difficult to spot the difference from one show to the next (Jeff's solo vocals and guitar solos apart) I'm sure he'll squeeze a couple of surprises into the set list. Personally, I'm just happy he's still got the energy to tour... And hopefully release a new album using Big Horizon as his studio band

I'd be happy with the addition of Strange Magic, Hold on Tight, and Calling America. These would be hit songs that many casual fans would recognize, but this would still mix things up a bit. Adding 10538 Overture as a throwback to the earliest days of the band would be a nice touch. They could squeeze it in between more familiar tunes, contextualizing it by saying that "this is the song that started it all for us," or something like that. Even casual fans might be interested, since this is the last tour, in principle...I doubt anything like that would happen, though. While we're "Wishing," I'd love to see the whole Concerto played in order, but I know that's a pipe dream, especially since there are already a few songs from OOTB on the set list already. I'm also perfectly fine with dropping the Wilburys material. It's Jeff Lynne, but it's not ELO. Oh, well! We'll eventually know what to expect, and I'll decide whether to buy a ticket then.

I've touched on this earlier in this thread, about the hits ELO have had and should be played such as Horace Wimp, I'm Alive, Calling America, Hold On Tight etc. hits that the casual fans will know. We diehards want the album tracks so maybe if you swap Standin In The Rain, Do Ya and When I Was A Boy and even Handle With Care (songs that the casuals won't necessarily know) with those previously mentioned or even other album tracks then a compromise would be achieved I think.

I agree, I would be thrilled to hear Strange Magic, Hold on Tight, Calling America, etc! I think they have all been featured on greatest hits/best of compilations at one point or another, so most people attending would probably be familiar with them? Swapping out some of the lesser known tunes would be a good idea, like Timeblue said. Maybe swap Handle with Care for End of the Line if they still want to include a Wilburys track? Jeff had a more prominent part in that song anyway. Of course, I would love to hear some deeper cuts, but I am trying to think realistically. 😆
On an unrelated note, is there any word yet on if there will be an opening act or who it might be, if so? My mom was asking me, but I couldn't answer. I can not recall if the opening act was announced before ticket sales began last time, or if we found out later on. 🤔

I'd love to see a longer show with an intermission and no opening act. That is most likely a question of stamina. There's plenty of music to choose from! Most people in attendance would probably rather hear more ELO material, even if some songs might be a little less familiar, instead of the music of a supporting band. I've recently seen two bands of a similar age range - namely The Doobie Brothers and Chicago, put on a show lasting about 2.5 hours with no opening act. To be fair, they had multiple lead singers, including a younger guy (50 ish) on many of the lead vocals for Chicago. The Doobies, with three septagenarian lead singers, did their show with no intermission, although Michael McDonald, the least fit of the lead singers, was seated at his keyboard setup while onstage. Chicago had a 20 minute intermission. Both concerts were fabulous! I also saw these two bands together at a double- header concert in Raleigh back in 2017. This summer, I'll see Chicago and EWF together at that same venue! Oh yeah !!

I never understood why Jeff sang Handle With Care in concerts,he only sang backing vocals so End Of The Line would be a better fit.

I seem to remember him saying in an interview somewhere that his max is about 90 minutes, because it's hard on his voice? But I could be misremembering that, too. 🤔

if they are looking for set fillers, let him have a break and the backing singers do a spot - Melanie Lewis-McDonald - singing Xanadu?, Iain Hornal could probably handle just about any of them...let him sing the TW songs as they had different voices

The part I can't quite remember is whether it was "support TBD" before ticket sales began or if we didn't even know that there would be an opening act until it was announced later on.
If there will be an opening act, I wouldn't be surprised if it's Dhani again given how close he and Jeff are, and he has a new album out at the end of last year to tour behind too.

Jeff was never one for long set lists. We all remember him on the Time Tour - which was essentially a relative short concert with a couple medleys. I'm interested in hearing what others say after attending the early shows.
In the meantime, I am seeing the Rolling Stones in Houston on 28 April (with Gary Clark Jr opening....a great piece of news), and the Aerosmith tour is on again and I will see them on 3 November - about a year after the original date. The Aerosmith tickets were $582 for two, including all fees and parking.
