I'll probably wait until I know more about the set list, and see how I feel about it then. I'm staring down retirement in the next 18 months , so large, unsatisfying expenditures are not appealing to me right now. That's my thinking too.

And that article mentions that Tandy is playing again. The Metro also says that Richard Tandy will "accompany" Jeff. Certainly, that can't be true? I imagine thatâs sloppy journalism.

I interpreted the word "accompany" to mean "playing." Not that Richard was going to be his personal assistant.

Guys if you are thinking of going, don't wait too long. While a few arenas have plenty at this time, some are being stripped bare.

The more I look at the wording in that promotional text, the more I'm certain these are merely the last US dates of a larger farewell tour, so predicting a UK leg isn't too much of a stretch. However, I've not seen any indication that Richard's up to a schedule I'm afraid might prove too much for even Jeff nearer to the back end, though I can't imagine he'd abandon the very final show. At the very most, I can imagine Richard being invited to take a bow with Jeff and the rest of the band for their final concert together, much like what he did for the Earthrise premiere, but performing is a whole different matter. Still, I'll keep my fingers crossed, because that guy deserves a happy ending after the last few years.

Well, of course that I, writing From The End Of The World (a place where Jeff never came), find only a US tour as a not good idea. Kinda selfish. It's SO, so rare for me to know that there won't be a UK or european leg, and if it was announced as the "final" tour, I don't expect new dates later, probably in one or two months, telling you the same, but in the UK...The tour has these dates, and these dates will have. So I only can wait for rare songs performed, or a good guest (Richard could be one), or an interesting band playing. Or maybe! A new song only played for this tour...

The final gig will be Birmingham. Richard and Roy will make an appearance, not too sure about Bev. Even if it's just a curtain call.

It would be somewhat ironic given Bev didn't play on the original I've often wondered if you played Marston Moor and say Last Train to London to someone would they know it's the same band đ

The set lists HAVE been pretty much the same on the last two tours with only a few changes, even the backdrop visuals were the same. These shows are not cheap to see and fans paying ÂŁ100s will be disapointed if Jeff plays a near identical setlist this year as well. I could name at least a dozen to 15 songs now that will be played, I get the 'diehards will be the minority' viewpoint and that the masses will just want the hits, but to me this sounds like Jeff is more bothered about his bank balance rather than the people who made made him wealthy (and no doubt he is extremely wealthy) in the first place. Just my opinion. I reckon Jeff would probably take a different view of it and would see it as trying to please as many people as possible. Itâs also highly likely that even a large number of the die-hard fans want to hear the âbangersâ and arenât that fussy about the order in which they are played either. I can only speak for me - but Iâm one of them. Seems to me heâs damned if he does and damned if he doesnât. Just my opinion. I grouch about it a bit too, but friendly reminder that itâs not just Jeff, this is whatâs preached within the entire music industry. Even to young bands who are excited about the new songs theyâve just writtenâonly play a few songs from the new album, because the hits are what people come to hear. âThe only reason to record a new album is to have a reason to tour and play the old hits!â as Mick Jagger says. I think you pretty much have to be a Kate Bushâsomeone known to play by your own rulesâto be willing to break the industry rules, and willing to disappoint a portion of your fans. Like Sparks; I thought they did a great job with their setlist last year, about 1/3 new material, 1/3 hits/crowd favorites, and 1/3 deeper cuts. And yet there were still some fans complaining because they only played a few songs from their most popular albums. It works for Sparks because they know those complaints are the minority, they know theyâre a relatively cult band with a large proportion of die-hard fans. But even as one of those die-hard fans myself, I wouldâve been disappointed had the hits been any fewer. In part because it was my first time seeing them live and I really wanted to hear those songsâand itâs always someoneâs first show. And in part because Iâm ALWAYS going to want to hear those songs (unless a show is specifically advertised as a special occasion where the hits wonât be played), because I do love those songs too, thereâs a reason theyâre hits, after all, and often those songs are some of the most enjoyable to me as a live experience because thatâs when the audience energy is highest.

There will always be the staple hits played such as Livin' Thing, Mr Blue Sky, Roll Over Beethoven,Showdown etc. So maybe a compromise would be to sing DIFFERENT hits as well as those. Jeff has 30+ hits to choose from and I'd imagine those who go for 'the hits' only would still recognise Strange Magic, Secret Messages, Here Is The News etc?

It's Over was a single? That would be very apt
