Yeah, I agree. Didn't know that thread existed when I started this one. Could Admin merge this thread with the other?

I just found this tonight, and I liked it. These guys were a tribute band that did ELO-inspired original music. I couldn't find any reference to them on here, but maybe some of you have heard of them? I love that album. WikiMy favs are:

I liked the L.E.O. songs enough that I bought the album (Alpacas Orgling). Was hard to find - but located it at a Goodwill on-line store on the west coast. And - the lead singer from Jellyfish, Andy Sturmer, sings on the song you posted. The "group" was a bunch of talented musicians that got together for a fun side project - the thing they all had in common was a love for the music of Jeff Lynne. "Bleu" is a producer/musician that organized the project. I think they did one show and sold about 50 copies - so they sure weren't making the album in hopes of getting rich. This was done more as a Labor Of Love and it shows. I wish Bleu and his pals had done a follow up to it. Jeff heard it and he approved.

someone has been raiding their dad's elo collection I love The Coral but I've never heard this before. Great song, like something straight off AITU. I never thought Liverpudlians could sound so ELO-ish.

I've been listening to this today. I haven't heard the whole album yet but what I have heard so far has certain early ELO/Move, possibly Idle Race elements.
There's strings, nice backing vocals... but what really stood out for me was that the essence of many of the songs reminded me of the essence of Jeff (and/or Woody). I can imagine many of these tunes being written by Wood/Lynne in an alternative universe.
Maybe there's too much woodwind and brass for this compilation to sound a lot like Jeff but they are lovely sounding songs and Jeff writes lovely sounding songs as well!

Tea & Symphony is an interesting compilation that captures a lot of the elements that were in the air when Roy, Jeff and Bev formed ELO. Has some Graham Gouldman songs on it (10cc member). Will have to give it a longer listen when I have time.

Has anyone heard of OLD FUTURE CRASH? I can assure you that this is the closest thing to the ELO/JEFF sound from all over the world and with its own songs. **************** One of the members of Old Future Crash is an online friend of mine, Mauri Martinez. He just messaged me this morning and said he was sending me an extra track for my birthday next month. I don't know what he has in store. I enjoy their album, Outside Time. I believe it's one of the most professional-sounding indie ELO-esque albums out there. There are two other members. They all wrote the music and lyrics together. They are from Spain. It can be purchased here 0dayrox.blogspot.com/2017/05/OLD-FUTURE-CRASH-Outside-Time-2017-Electric-Light-Orchestra-Supertramp.html

Macca does his best ELO impression in Do It Now on the new album, Egypt Station. Of course, to claim that McCartney is "doing ELO" is kind of strange, since Beatles was such an obvious inspiration for ELO. But still - very ELOish.
