Yes, peporro, "The way life's meant to be" in my opinion is the best song of "Time" and an absolute pop masterpiece. Es bueno tener otro integrante del foro que hable en castellano . Saludos!

When Ma-Ma-Ma Belle and Showdown initially hit the airwaves the first album was On The Third Day.

Discovery and Xanadu where the first albums I bought. I ordered them from the internet when I first got into ELO after seeing the Mr Blue Sky documentary in 2012. While I was waiting for them to be delivered I went to a real-life record shop and bought On The Third Day. Officially I'd say OTTD was my first ELO LP.

I have a feeling many of us came along when ELO started to make it really big. That was the case for me, the first ELO album I bought was A New World Record. And it was the first album I bought on my own, with my own money, picking it up in a record shop in Stockholm (I was only nine). I came home and must have listened to the album at least five times in a row, looking at the album cover, reading the lyrics. Magic! Is there anyone here who actually became an ELO fan from the first album? Or second? Janne, On The Third Day, ELO’s second album, which came out in 1973, is when I became a fan. I did buy their first, ELO - it was OTTD that pushed me on. I was aware of the Move, but never paid them much attention. I am a 60’s/70’s rocker. That being said, I do not like much of anything ELO did in the 80’s. I know, I know, shame on me! Don’t get me wrong there are songs, but I didn’t buy their albums. Kick me off this forum if need be! A New World Record is probably my favorite. I always play this after Face the Music and when ANWR is on, I always think, Gee, I like this album. Than the late ‘80’s (Wilburys, too) and on forward to the latest Mr Blue Sky. Shout out to you Mr Lynne! Saw ELO in 1976. The photo I post is of Jeff in 1976. BSJ

That's great, having seen ELO in 1976!
I have only seen them once, on the Time tour - I was a bit disappointed since this was a tour without the most classic lineup (Hugh McDowell and Melvyn Gale had been replaced by Dave Morgan and Louis Clark).
I went back to the early albums after I bought A New World Record. I remember my mum coming home with On The Third Day - the version with the black gatefold sleeve with Jeff's face "looking out" from a cut out in the cardboard. (I liked that cover much more than the white one with the group photo.)

That belly-button photo! Love it! I asked in the voting poll post since UK cover of OTHD is being voted on, if this will be as well.
If he wasn't being difficult that night you got to see Fred!!

Yes, Fred was definitely there, and Bev came out from behind his drums to talk to us. And the band played Across The Universe, to commemorate John Lennon.

It was nearly six years ago, in my early high school days. A friend of mine, also into bands before our time, told me about this "band that The Beatles would have sounded like if they had kept going" He showed me Mr. Blue Sky, and I instantly went home and bought Out of The Blue on iTunes. Not long after that, I also found the vinyl at a used record/music store. Been hooked ever since.

First album was New World Record. I'd heard Livin' Thing played on the radio, so I bought the album, and every album they did after, as well as getting the albums I'd missed.

first album was called Shines On with Jeff, Bev and Roy sitting round looking at a light bulb...it was great....it got me in to The Move which then got me in to the Idle Race by which time I had loads more ELO stuff....

I'm from Spain. There are a lot of ELO fans here. I am hearing TIME now. Do you think that THE WAY LIFE'S MEANT TO BE is one of the best songs ever? When I'm down, this song takes me to the top. And I think that Jeff Lynne's production of this album is marvellous. As I have said,'Time' is my fave album and I'm always playing it even after 33 years.I have one issue with it tho' and that is Hold On Tight (for all its classyness) just sounds wrong for the album, with the album being a synth driven piece and then closing on a guitar fuelled rocker just doesn't sit right with me somehow. Hey ho,just my opinion.....
