I heard this song on the radio this morning, sung by someone else but this is even better by the writer himself - the lyrics are a hoot. Sounds like the sort of shennanigins that go on at our famous forum parties..... You might have heard the version by The Divine Comedy? If so,a great track which is best played LOUD!

Ta! Couldn't resist
Bet vlogdance for a start will have some more interesting memories.... Ah! those forum parties... Helmut's solo tango drove everyone wild The pink shirt he wore was the picture of style Then he spilled all our cheap over Horace's tiles! I couldn't have liked it more.

A can't think of any songs from the mid 90s (when I met my hubby) that I liked, but I wasn't really paying much attention, to be honest; we had to go back in time a few years for the "first dance" songs we had at our two (yes, two! my parents insisted!) wedding receptions: Here and Now - Luther Vandross (a beautiful, classic wedding song if there ever was one) At Last - Etta James (we were fairly "mature" and elated when we married )
We also had to get down and party like it was 1999 --- well, because, it was.

BENEE is from New Zealand but just did a show in DC. Neat video brings together a crazy mix of things: a Where the Wild Things Are character with her singing a Baby It's Cold Out sort of song loaded up with modern effects. Even a spaceship sighting about 2 minutes in. It will interesting to see if she catches on.

Carl Newman from The New Pornographers was interviewed on SiriusXM radio this weekend. He talked about how he like bands that haven't been afraid to go totally "over the top" - sure enough, his example was ELO. Then he said, so I thought "why can't our band be like that?". Here's another interview with him a few years back where he made a similar comment, but didn't mention ELO.
and one of their "over the top" songs

John Heaton has a long series of You Tube videos where he reviews classic albums. Here he runs down his personal Top 20 of all time. Jeff shows up but not as high as we would like. Heaton is more of a Beatles fan. Can't argue with many of his picks.
