Genius. Love the bit when Robbie thumps his guitar on his thigh. No favorite performance here, all great.

this one always makes me smile - even the line "little old lady got mutilated late last night" Warren just has no much fun with it.

YouTube's algos were working well tonight - next song up was David Byrne with ELOish strings, playing a Whitney Houston song of all things. It works.

this one always makes me smile - even the line "little old lady got mutilated late last night" Warren just has no much fun with it. Huge Zevon admirer. Got to see him once doing a one man gig at Warwick University, he was brilliant live. (the previous week he had actually cancelled through illness as we were taking their seats). Always thought he was in need of a world class producer for his world class songs. Quiet Normal Life was a best of I was particularly fond of ... my favourite albums of his were Sentimental Hygiene and Transverse City. He could write the darkest of songs and also the most beautiful like this one

a favorite artist from the last 2 years - quirky sense of humor and thoughtful lyrics, with strong Tom Petty influences
a Wilburyish one from the last album
and one from Aaron's latest album that asks whether you (or America) can break out of your rut
Interesting fact about his last album - you can find 2 versions. The first is a rock & roll mix. The 2nd is a simpler, acoustic mix with the word "Reincarnated" added to distinguish from the first version. Still trying to figure out which I like better before buying a copy.

Pictures of You by Sonny Smith
an upbeat and jangly power pop song, very nostalgic

Eva Cassidy was a local singer about my age. She died at an early age from skin cancer - never did get a recording deal. Local radio played her cover of John Lennon's Imagine today in honor of John's birthday.
To my surprise, the DJ said she became a big star in Britain after her death. Sold more than 10 million records. Imagine!
from her album "Songbird"

I heard this song on the radio this morning, sung by someone else but this is even better by the writer himself - the lyrics are a hoot. Sounds like the sort of shennanigins that go on at our famous forum parties.....

unomusette , reminds me of the time you popped up from Horace's laundry hamper yawning and stretching the morning after one of our marvelous parties. We couldn't have liked it more!
