Nope, didn't like it as a 'live' song, apart from the last 20 seconds you couldn't tell that it WAS live.

If it's true it's a shame as he genuinely does seem to have kept his voice in good shape. Yes, he keeps it in good shape (particularly for a man his age), but there's always gonna be some flaws here and there -normal in live shows, they don't even come close to ruining the song- and he can't live with that.

Well, Jeff is a perfectionist. We all know that. It certainly doesn't sound live which is a real shame. I don't think Jeff can understand that we want it RAW... with ALL the imperfections. I think his voice sounds sublime though.

It looks and sounds great! It's so beautiful to see all of those people dancing and singing along, having the time of their lives! Pre-ordering right now

Is he so obsessed with correcting everything that he can't let a live version be live? If so, then don't release a live version. No one is forcing you to, but releasing this as a live version is a bad joke.

Pre-ordering right now Must agree about the shots of the audience having a good time, I'm pleased there's so much footage of that included. It really puts over how great the atmosphere must have been, plus you rarely see that many middle aged people getting off on music like that. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling

Hiding under the chair at this point, but it sounds a bit auto-tuned It seems to have been through all kind of processes, not just autotuning. What else could you expect from someone who hates musical spontaneity as much as Jeff Lynne does? His "live" versions end up being anything but live. there aren't many acts on the planet who are selling live recordings that haven't been through these processes.

I do think the recording sounds lovely... In spite of it not being what I imagined I think I'll thoroughly enjoy it.

Well, if you take it like that it could be OK. It seems to have been through all kind of processes, not just autotuning. What else could you expect from someone who hates musical spontaneity as much as Jeff Lynne does? His "live" versions end up being anything but live. there aren't many acts on the planet who are selling live recordings that haven't been through these processes. If we are going to guide ourselves by what other artists do, then there aren't many of them who are good, but thankfully Jeff Lynne is different to most artists on the planet because he's good. I'd like him to be different than the average artist also in regards to live recordings.

not sure what the problem is here, they were using samples/pro-tools, click tracks, compressors-limiters, reverb as part of the concert, no-one worried about that. all this is doing is just tweaking. It is just a way of representing it for the tv audience, majority of changes will be the mix, i suspect there will be very few re-records. (he might use the audio from other live recordings i guess)

I know he is a perfectionist but sometimes I think Jeff should back just go back to basics and give us all a treat with the odd bum note and lots of atmospheric crowd noises. Hyde Park was awesome in that respect and the odd forgotten and wrongly sung lines only added to it.

Everyone wants it to be an 'authentic experience of the day' but I'd argue this will largely do that. Let's face it though ELO is always a 'production' it isn't rough as hell rock-n-roll. It is controlled, brilliantly played/performed pop rock. if there is a detraction from that it is to be fixed. This set of concerts have been massively more successful than anticipated and this just adds to the cannon to the marketing exercise. My worry is the bit that will be most diminished from the day will be the impact of the brilliant light show amongst some of the TV editing.

Well I've had a listen and I've had a listen to a fan video on youtube from Wembley and to be honest they are remarkably similar. Obviously the crowd noise has been virtually removed from the official version for some reason.
I know there's a few comments re autotune...but i'm not hearing that tbh, there's quite a few bits where JL is slightly out of tune so unless he's trying to leave some intonation issues to give is a genuine live feel I dont see why he wouldnt have tweeked them.
Regardless, it does sound a bit drab and a little polished.

I personally hope that the entire show isn't in the same vein....
