Which model do we prefer best?.... me? although I like the dark menacing 'Zoom' version, it has to be the original mk1 'Out Of The Blue' for me......

Definitely the first one for me too. The dark one worked okay for that particular album, but it's simply not as iconic as the original coloured one.

"The Dark One" - what a fitting symbol for what was a rather dark and (ultimately) sad album...
Model #1 for me - it carries sooooooo many happy memories.

Love the new ship. Looking a little scruffy because it's been traveling 'all over the world' for 40 years now.
Also love the dark ship and the graphics they used for the Zoom cover, etc.
But, well, ya can't beat the original.

I've only just realised that the black "roof truss" - style spaceship on the cover of the Zoom CD tied in with the set from the Zoom concert. Who's a bright lad then - it takes me 16 years to see a hole in ladder (or a truss?).

Honestly, I like the newest one. All weather-battered and such, like BSJ said.

The first one is my favorite , and I like the third one almost as much. The second one is OK in its own way, though.

Of course #1 - the original spaceship is the best.
I also love the new one and I agree - it's so cool that it shows the wear and tear of being lost out in space for 30 years (same as Jeff)!
#2 is well done - but it has that horrible all black 90's aesthetic. "the 90's called. they want their all-black spaceship back"

Do you think maybe that the mark 3 is an indication of what Jeff thinks he has been through with ELO? the 1st is a brand spanking new model from the 70's all nice and pristine, the 2nd came out after all the troubles he had with the record company and lawsuits etc and the 3rd showing that although getting on a bit now and he has seen it all,he is still going....

I agree with you. I see it like this: Original Spaceship, Original Jeff Updated Spaceship, Updated Jeff - trying to keep up with the times. Something about it just doesn't work! New/Retro Spaceship, New/Retro Jeff - a little beaten up but otherwise like the original! Ah, that's more like it!

Don't you forget about these! My fav, Ticket to the Moon's spaceship. There's also the Flashback's one, though I found an alternative orange and purple ship which looks awesome... I don't particularly love OOTB ship, it's way too big. AITU is the definitive version hehe. And let's not forget the mother of all spaceships, the black death st... I mean Zoom's ship giving birth to little Mr. Blue Skies!
