A thread to post about any upcoming gigs or concerts you are attending, or to report/review any recent events you have attended. I will start with a gig I went to last night. One of my brothers favourite bands is the LA punks The Dickies, yesterday I went to their gig in Nottingham UK. I have seen the band probably 6-7 times before through the years. Yesterday was a good concert, very fast and energetic with all the hits (well more well know songs, rather than hits!!) been played. As it was mid week the venue was probably only 3/4 full but it was a good atmosphere. There are only two members of the original band left playing these are the singer Leonard and the guitarist Stan Lee, Stan always mingles with the crowd before the event and picked out my brother and I to say hello to as he seemed to remember us from previous concerts. I can't even remember the last concert I was at; couldn't afford it even if I wanted to go.

Museum of LiverpoolCool, hope it's a great show! Maybe they'll play a lot of "Architecture and Morality", eh? Though probably just a couple with all the stuff they put out. Jim

Thanks Jim, I'm really looking forward to it. The gig is to be based upon the album Dazzle Ships which was the album after A&M. The reason for this is there is a Dazzle Ship in the harbour next to the Liverpool Museum they are playing at. Having a ticket to the concert will let you tour the ship prior to the gig. The last concert I saw was Kula Shaker live in Rome (2007). I had terrible tinnitus for two months, so I've decided to stop seeing live music. I work in a loud factory (Noise level higher than 85 dBA), so I don't want to be deaf before turning 40

I did have that problem as well Buttler and I still have mild tinnitus permanently. Now when I go to a concert I use some professional musicians in ear protectors, they have a low, medium or high protection level which I choose depending upon what style of band I'm watching. I can highly recommend them if you suffer with hearing problems after watching a concert. These are what I have got Amazon

I saw Bryan Ferry on Saturday. It was a fantastic show!!! Best I've seen in years. It doesn't come off in the video but he got the mostly middle aged audience whipped into a frenzy. (Myself included) He's one smooth operator. Other Roxy Music Fans on the forum?

Museum of LiverpoolHorace this is a band that seems to keep passing my radar. What is the key album I must listen too IYO? I worked with an OMD freak many moons ago and he had been into them since '79 so they have to be good?

This is my fave track "In every dream home a heartache". If you good folk are unaware of this track listen to the lyrics! You won't believe what he is singing about! as the late and great Frank Zappa once said "Heres an man who plugs things into a computer and then plugs his computer into himself to get him off, how could there not be a song in that"?! This track is one of those songs! Sorry for video bombing your page elophile but you asked for Roxy fans! Enjoy!

A good place to start is Architecture and Morality, see this album of the week archive. jefflynneselo.proboards.com/thread/85/cd-week-aug-17I would then recommend their greatest hits CD and see which era you like, the early days were more electronic moving on to a more electronic pop stage, after they reformed they released two good albums History of Modern and English Electric which are both worth a listen.

Thanks Horace will go diggin! You caught my attention with the early 80's electronica. ...have been on a ultravox buzz of late so this should fit nicely into my electronica vice at the mo! Btw...sorry everyone for stepping off topic continue on!;-)

I love all the roxy music too. Some people prefer the early stuff or the later stuff but I love it all. I've been too busy obsessing over ELO to give them much thought lately but it all came back to me. Love Phil Manzanera big time too!

After dragging Mrs Wimp to ELO Experience last weekend and to OMD in Liverpool next weekend I had to do some payback last night and go to the theatre with her. We went to the Alexander in Birmingham and saw The importance of Being Ernest, it was not my normal cup of tea but it was alright. I've now got a urge to go out and buy a Blazer and a cravat.
