I hadn't realised that ELO never truly did a world tour.

One of the things I'm really hoping to hear some day are the countless hours of mono soundboard tapes that Brian Jones ran off the front of house mixing desk for every ELO show he was involved with, with spans the entire original band's run and continued through to at least the mid-1990s with Part 2. Although normally made so the band or road crew had a reference for how the previous night's performance sounded so they could make adjustments, we know at least one of these was provided to Pete King as a way of allowing him to learn the setlist when he briefly took over from Bev in February '82. Upon his passing a while back, I was curious to see if someone would at least confirm the existence of Brian's archive and where this had gone. My best guess is that Jeff's camp either made an offer to have these preserved in the vaults (where they'll likely never be heard again), or his family is still sitting on an absolute goldmine. At the very least, we know they've not found their way into the hands of private collectors, because I can't imagine anyone not uploading even samples from those yet. Could this be our best chance at getting to finally hear something from the Time Tour in decent* quality? *That's not entirely true - the Lyon show from 02-18-1982 is an audience recording I can't recommend enough, although it has one minor blemish in the form of Jeff almost growling his way through Here Is The News. To be fair, it was the back end of a three-leg world tour, and it seems as if he swapped this back in place of recent single The Way Life's Meant To Be as a way of trying to preserve his voice, only to find that wasn't the best choice. If anything, he's close to pulling out his old Idle Race style of vocal delivery, but it just doesn't work when combined with a worn-out throat and songs played more aggressively than on record. Seriously, what was with the overall stage energy around that era?! I'd like to friendly haggle with ShardEnder here - ELO's Time Tour was not a "world tour." It was a U.S. - UK - Western Europe tour. I think the rest of the planet would probably agree. Jeff has not been to the large Asian cities, has not been to Australia since 1978, and hasn't been to Eastern Europe or South America. There is much money to be made in these other locations--the Stones and Queen know this well.
People may complain about ELO Part II and The Orchestra, but those bands played parts of the planet that Jeff has never attempted. And for that they have my admiration. Yep they played places where fans were too uninformed to notice Jeff wasn't there.

Yep they played places where fans were too uninformed to notice Jeff wasn't there. Jeff Lynne's ELO has not played the following cities, all name checked in All Over the World:
Hong Kong Rio Monte Carlo Rome Tokyo
I'm pretty certain Jeff could sell out dates in those cities. Especially leading off with All Over the World in the set.
And then throw in the major Australian cities of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.
Throw in Shanghai for good measure. Do the casino circuit in Macau, China. Tons of money there. Talk about Easy Money!
And then throw in the former Eastern European cities of Warsaw, Prague, and Berlin.
In short: IMHO the reason Jeff Lynne's ELO has not played on several continents is because it would have been too much work and too much time. And maybe Jeff does not have the desire at his age. Once again, thanks to the guys in Part II and The Orchestra who took the music of ELO to regions that Jeff has never played, or played when Jimmy Carter was the U.S. President.
