Been ridiculously busy, but aiming to provide a review of the songs, and maybe we can get into some stories behind the songs, next week.
For one story behind the song, I had the "Kennedy Drive" chords since I was in high school, and I just called it "Pop Progression" since it sure sounded like a pop chord progression to me.
Then the title evolved into "Firework Drive" because the first time I ever recorded the chord progression was on the 4th of July right before we were going to go for a long ride to our friends' house to celebrate it.
So when it was time for lyrics I wanted to make it based on driving somewhere for the fourth of July, and I always tell my wife that the funnest thing for me is when we drive because that's the only time we can really all talk and be together without interruption.
So made a rough draft of the lyrics. Then one day, while my daughter was making cookies on a Sunday afternoon, I played it for here with the lyrics and she said she liked it. I knew I needed a non-cheesey name for the street, so for some days later wherever we would drive I would observe the street names. Finally I encountered a street named "Kennedy", so changed it from "Firework Drive" to "Kennedy Drive".
Over time I had one guy add some bass to it, and then a lot later some other guy added drums to it. And then Helmut tweaked the recording to give it the right balance of voice, guitar, drums, and bass, I believe he just needed to turn down the drums a little, right Helmut?
So that's the story for that one.
Jim

Helmut83 is away for a few days, don't know where my guess is a secret hot tub mission with Chereene, anyway when he gets back I'm sure he will sign you up for participating in any future releases.

Wondering where the ol' boy was. Secret mission with What's it? Not anymore! Can't get away with nothing 'round here, Helmut83! Maybe they're celebrating with Damey!

Hey there! Sorry to disappoint you, but this time I had to put down both Chereene and Damey's invitations to go on vacation to the land. jrmugz, interesting story about "Kennedy Drive". You know, I think you've got an ace there. If a well-know artist could get grasp of it I'm sure it would work. The work I did on that song was way more simple than what you picture there: I just raised the general volume of the whole thing. @secretmessenger, thanks for your warm general review of the album, I appreciate because it's true, even with our limited equipment we put some love and effort to the songs.

OK, here is my review of the "(Music from) Horace Wimp's ELO Fan Forum (for enjoyment all over the world!)" CD.
01. "Kennedy Drive" - Cool chords to basic lyrics. Great drum track to it, and bass helps drive the song. With the right artist and some polish on the lyrics, it could potentially amount to something some day, as Helmut once alluded to.
02. "We are Being Attacked" - Cool focused guitar riff, nice harmonica touch, etc. Very pleasant and uplifting feel to it. Keeps the CD flowing nice.
03. "My Spring Rose" - Very professional track with good story of mistakes and redemption. Beautiful vocals and ukulele, to nicely layered and arranged musical track. The great bridge with layered harmonies really bring this from a good song to a truly great song.
04. "Candid Assertion Blues" - Interesting blues track, with nice drum track. Unique ending, and a decent guitar run for the 2nd and 4th themes.
05. "Kittycat Blues" - Great cinematic melancholic instrumental piece. Reminds me of "Now that this has ended, let us take courage and move towards the future." Love the howling guitar riff. Very Claptonesque. Played with a lot of feel. Very good.
06. "Raining in the Farm" - Interesting farm soundscape to unique humorous lyrics. When I play it the kids get all interested and our parakeet starts doing some extra chirping like its taking note of the farm animal sounds. Fun, entertaining track, that keeps the listener thoroughly engaged. One of three wonderful bHabs vocal performances. Love the quick guitar solo. Great team effort, great centerpiece track for the CD.
07. "Loosenin' Up" - Nice little piece that keeps the farm feel of "Raining in the Farm" going, follows up to it very well, a perfect litte piece, would love to hear an expanded version of it sometime!
08. "Across the Sea" - Great fun "bon voyage" type of song, very fun and uplifting chorus. Very soothing vocals. Love the slow-down part before the final chorus repeat at the end.
09. "Por Suerte" - The fun continues. I don't speak Spanish, but I laugh at this one anyways as I can tell the fun being had by the musicians and singers. What a great CD this is, gets better as it goes. Very fun harmonica solo, and very fun and tasteful guitar solo towards the end.
10. "Autumn Delight" - Nice bossa nova chords that sound like they would be good for a luxury car commercial.
Overall, I think this is a very cohesive and focused album that makes for a thoroughly enjoyable half an hour of music from various people on the forum.
Star Rating: 4 out of 5 Prime Cuts: "Raining in the Farm", "My Spring Rose", "Kittycat Blues" Bottom Line: A fairly decent and enjoyable team effort from the forum! Definitely very worthwhile project with good fruits. Nice CD artwork from my daughter Natalie!
Looking to the Future: I want to start on another one in a month or so, still busy for my presentation at work, but I think it will be in early March, once that's done I can start kicking around ideas with people.
But if anyone has a song towards a volume two they want to send to me now, more power to them.
Likewise, Helmut if you wanted to arrange some song again and get people in on it again, great. If you'll need any lyrical help, just send it my way again!

Great review, Jim, thanks. Apparently I'll have to make an extended version of "Loosenin' up" as it's not the first comment I get about it needing to be longer. Likewise, Helmut if you wanted to arrange some song again and get people in on it again, great. If you'll need any lyrical help, just send it my way again! OK! Great! I'll probably send you something further down the line as I have many songs without lyrics. As for a new Electric Animal Orchestra effort, I would really love to do it, but I think to prove we are a complete and multitalented band this time we need to switch some roles and work on a song whose main songwriter (in terms of chords and melody) is another member.
