El Cairo is full of cars, and Tokio has a fair amount of people in the streets.

Cross-border cooperation has allowed one nine-month-old boy, Riley Patterson, to have heart surgery to save his life. International borders don't matter to Covid-19. Thankfully, compassion and love aren't contained within borders either

An Irish journalist put out a call on Twitter asking if Irish people abroad could send him a short video explaining how their lives have changed over the past weeks and months. The world is a very small place.

Interesting video eloneenMasks… The existing guidance from WHO has very specific situations when masks are to be used. But.. Apparently, yesterday they were to debate the advice that everyone needs to wear them. There's nothing in the news to suggest that the general advice has changed… yet. If this does become WHO advice, I have no idea where to get a supply of masks.

tremblinwilbury The guidance about masks in the US is about to change, I think, mainly to prevent the people wearing the mask from infecting others. There isn't much evidence to show that it protects the wearer as much as it protects others in his/her presence. Since people can shed virus before showing symptoms, many experts are advising people to interact with others as if you are infected. In many parts of Asia this use of masks by the sick to protect the healthy is understood, and to prevent social stigma against the sick, everyone is expected to wear a mask. People are strongly discouraged against seeking out medical masks, which are in short supply, so these homemade cloth masks are a good option.
