Today was a good day because my fellow citizens have finally showed some reaction against the politicians' caste. This morning President Fernandez's mask finally fell and he showed what he's made of when he told the people "well, guys, the time has come for your to earn less". This affirmation is wrong on many levels, but particularly: 1) for lots of people it's not about winning less but about losing money; and 2) he says others will have to bear winning less, but he doesn't even think about lowering their own salaries (like Uruguay did), which are obscenely high. Today at 21:30 (or 9:30 p.m.) people came out to their windows, balconies and gardens and started beating pans and pots to put pressure on the politicians to lower their salaries, even in neighborhoods where Fernandez won with almost 90% of the votes. I think this is a very healthy excercise of citizenship. Could it be that the Argentine sheepish people is finally waking up? Tomorrow, again.

No worries Horacewimp, I won't talk politics here. That said, this is definitely not good news for UE...

eloneen, mega-positive vibes for you and your family. On a lighter note, I think at a time like this Jeff Lynne is probably ok that he's always been somewhat of a social distancer. Hopefully he stays quarantined and comes up with some new music, or digs into those 2,000 tapes he's talked about and finds something good to share with the world.

Buttler, that is exactly what I've been warning about: people are terrified and willing to hand their asses to politicians. This is crazy, having absolute power in Europe means going back to the Middle Ages. I feel bad for the Hungarians who have some brains and are being held hostages of this situation.

Sp much preaching about how us pedestrian citiziens should be brave and endure the lack of our economic income, they should be the first ones to set the example, particularly having in mind their huge wages are not set by the market but by themselves.

One thing that's remarkable is the wonders that this halt is doing for nature. In many cities thoughout the world (Buenos Aires included) the level of pollution in the air has lowered to remarkable levels. In a few you can even see the difference visually.
There have also been reports of animals appearing on areas where they didn't use to, like dolphins in the canals of Venezia or elephants getting drunk with fermented fruit in a village in China, but their veracity is far more dubious.

Amazing. For all the wrong reasons, of course; but hey, at least we can celebrate a positive side to this whole mess.

Another positive one: during the quarantine, less heart attacks have been reported than usual. No certain cause has been given scientifically, but it is supposed that working from home (which means saving yourself the stress of your working place) is the reason. Well, that's enough positivity from me for a while, I'm feeling strange and my head is hurting already.
