Masterpiece!
Loved the intro, great piano, and the guitar solo was spot on .

Well done all catchy tune Thanks, dillwyn! How does an experienced bassist like you find my performance on bass? Is it minimally acceptable or does it still need work? Feel free to punish me as hard as you want, if it were the harmonica I might feel a bit hurt but bass is not my thing anyway so I'll just laugh ... Thanks Horace and Queen for the compliments too!

Love this! Agree with queenofthehours about the lovely piano intro, but there were also some impressive harmonising backing vocals, the usual clever lyrics and the fun of spotting familiar faces in the video. Some neat effects in the video too, some very interesting pictures coming up on the TV and best of all Mr K proudly wearing his SNS t shirt Not to mention the number of languages on display (very Jeff, that French bit). Was it either Buttler or Helmut83 doing the manly foreign bit? It's a cheery toe-tapping tune beautifully sung and the subject matter is once again unique, miles from the usual boy-meets-girl fodder that other bands serve up. Street Next Door of course specialise in such groundbreaking releases. Every time you listen you notice something new, this is always the sign of a classic. Massive congrats to all concerned - it's a triumph!

This is great, supportive in all the right places.

Ah, thank you, Uno, for your kind words It was Buttler 's voice you heard doing the alluring spoken Italian phrase. (Yes! At last we persuaded him to do backing vocals! And now he'll be getting all the fan mail.) As with all our lyrics, this phrase was carefully chosen. It has a connection to an ELO song, too. (No, he's not saying "Bruce!")

The perks of not being a virtuoso, I couldn't overplay if my life depended on it, so it's a good thing it ended up being something positive. Thanks Dillwyn, having the opinion from a guy with your ability and knowledge on the instrument is always special. Massive congrats to all concerned - it's a triumph! Thank you Uno for your very kind and effusive words! I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

For anyone confused by the Jeffesque French lines in the song, hold on tight - here are the lyrics.
Line 16
Mutton jeff or mutton grumble? Why do all the actors mumble? Couldn't catch one word in three When we sat and watched TV. Hearing's hard, they make it harder, Is it what they learn at RADA? When the speaker's tone is gone Bring the subtitles on:
We can follow all the action When we're reading those closed captions When the lines are slurred it's time those words are seen When the house is crowded for a kitchen scene Turn the sound right down and get the gist on screen - Sports line 1, news line 16.
Téléthon, mais non comprend it? Turn them on to get around it (get around) Surfing, you essay to switch to Words that put us in the picture Time to voice some recognition Of the workers on their mission In control while you and I Watch the words go by
We can follow all the action When we're reading those closed captions In a font and size that won't disguise the themes When the crowd starts shouting and the mix won’t clean Turn the sound right down and get the gist on-screen - Sports line 1, news line 16
On the shows that need translating Though you know it's not verbatim...
When you’ve wound back something like a hundred scenes And your ears need rubbing, get the subs on screen - Sports line 1, news line 16 Sports line 1, news line 16 Sports line 1, news line 16.

Superbly catchy song! Loved those ELO-esque backing vocals and the guitar solos, and of course the lyrics Another success for The Street Next Door, I'd say!

I have to agree with everyone on how great this whole production is! I kept listening wondering about the next clever lyric. And the music and vocals helped propel them along. Great job!
