Anyone else keep tropical fish? I've been doing this for about 14 years now and I have a 500litre aquarium.

We have some, not sure how big the tank is but our fish seem to thrive on neglect. We never put extra stuff in when we clean it out, just tap water, but they're mostly good-sized and/or really elderly

I have to add de-chlorination additives to ours and anti ammonia supplements...

This is 'Muk' so called by my kids when we first got him 13 years ago because he is a good algae eater, he's about 14" long and he's still going strong.

Wow, that's an awesome aquarium, Timeblue! It's huge! And very well set. Muk is massive and though I wouldn't exactly describe him as "handsome" as Elophile did, he's very impressive. His spotted skin looks like that of a leopard. And I didn't know fish lived for so long.

Muk is a plecostamus and they can live up to 20 years,so he's only middle aged! I have about 25 fish of varying sizes and stature but nothing as big or as old as muk 😊

Muk is a beauty - we have one of his kind too but only about 7 - 8" long. I'm not sure how old ours is, maybe about 10? He is most definitely a handsome fish, especially when he poses on the bottom of the tank with all his fins extended and his leopard-print skin looking fabulous. We also have some mini red-tail sharks which I've seen sort of grooming him, he is properly King of all he surveys.
