Eloise, what a fab start to the day. Thank you so much. Those Mik interviews are great, especially if you stop everything and listen to all 7 of them in order. Beats even ten hours of Mr Tandy. (Look out for the mention of South Wales, in Part 1!) And what a fine video of Daybreaker. Such flares, I mean, such flair Mik has. Thanks loads

I remember when YouTube started--I literally discovered it (when it was just launched) when I was in an ELO Yahoo group. Somebody there posted a bunch of links which were a lot of stuff from around the Discovery era. Stuff I've never seen and imho (and as a pro video producer) they were/are simply hilarious! So 80's, so "high tech" for those days, dare I say, so very cheesy? Well, they were-they are pretty funny, but for the time and the technology, they were advanced, just nothing as advanced the music as I've always felt Jeff and ELO were years ahead of their time!
I love their really old concert stuff where they just play. The stuff from around Eldorado and earlier the best.

Bev wearing a pot holder doesn't ruin 10538 video. Both are great. They are so earnest.

That Can't Get It Out Of My Head video is one of my faves. Have you seen this one? Talk about early ELO... The first time I watched this video I had to pause it for a second at the beginning to collect myself before I could continue.

Awesome! It is mesmerizing. I think this is the concert I was thinking of... not sure I even saw this clip before-thanks! I remember in the mid-1990s when the local cable station was running old Midnight Specials and the one w/ELO was on it. I just drooled!

There's a great rendition of their "Great Balls of Fire" cover on that concert!

I'll get killed for saying this, but Jeff Lynne never seemed like a nice celebrity to me. There's tons of examples when you can see he is so out of touch with his fans and he doesn't give a shit about doing something about it. On this video you can see there was just one guy nicely asking him for an autograph that would have costed him 2 seconds of his life, yet he passed literally beside him and preferred to ignore the poor guy, leaving him hanging with his pen and his guitar. I'm sure if the guy went there with his guitar it was because it meant a lot to him, yet Mr Lynne couldn't be bothered to move his hand a bit.
I can see all the justifications coming up next like every time some of this happens: "he can't even come out of a car without being bothered", "he's been having to cope with this since 40 years ago", "who knows what he was going through in that moment"... I think in spite of all this it's bad of him to keep on behaving like a diva. Every time he is in public he has that "get me out of here before they touch me" attitude. It was just one fan, and it's not like he has to deal with that all day long as he's always hiding in his den like an armadillo. Heck, people like Paul McCartney or Robert Plant are 100 times more famous than Jeff and they have way much more contact with their fans. Justify him all you want, I find his "unreachability" an ugly feature of his.
