Does anyone know if more ELO albums will be re-released on vinyl. I got Out Of the Blue and it sounds amazing. The only thing is that it doesn't include the spaceship, but the poster is there. I have New World Order on record. You know what I mean.

I would imagine the original vinyls might be cheaper, from Ebay or suchlike? Or do the re-issues have superior sound quality?

The 180g vinyl sounds really good. It's hard to find original vinyl in good condition. Although I just received a copy of Time that still had its shrink wrap and sounded as if it was never played. I'm giving it and the singles from it to my nephew who is into vinyl. I need my Shazam LP replaced and a good copy of that is hard to come by.

Is the issue with new 180g vinyl not that it's just taken from the same digital source as CDs/MP3 etc and therefore is no different? If the vinyl is mastered from the original tapes, different matter of course. Happy to be corrected on that of course as I'm not 100% sure.
I've just renewed all of my ELO vinyl - sourced original albums rather than remasters and I have to say that the difference between vinyl and overblown/bloated digital stuff is quite substantial. It's lovely to hear music with dynamics again rather than just loud, Louder, and VERY LOUD INDEED.
Oddly, Secret Messages and Time are probably the best sounding ELO albums on vinyl that I've got.

Finding ELO vinyl isn't hard. It's finding decent quality vinyl nowadays. With the vinyl resurgance being so big, it's driven prices A LOT higher than what it was when I started collecting in early 2012, when you'd happily get ELO records in a condition absolutely fine for listening at home for a couple of quid. But with the uptake in vinyl again, and Jeff's now raised public profile and subsequent tours/gigs and AITU the prices have shot up. In some ways, you're better going for a reissue - yes, you might pay a few quid more, but the quality should be worth the extra outlay.

The self titled second Idle Race album was re-issued last year for National Independent Record Store Day in the UK.
It's on SPLAT coloured vinyl.
