The other day I got a bit of a bashing on the dreaded Facebook because I commented on a eBay bootleg, which I mention I've purchased (at half the price elsewhere)
This double vinyl LP.
The comment where basically from a guy, who i believe is also a member on this forum, saying 'I'm not a true fan'
People who know me will know differently.
In the 1990's I ran a site called The Ben Crawley Steel Company, it was one of the first ELO Websites, I then had several letter published in FTM Fanzine, I went on to create a website for Phil Bates and Tina McBaine's ERE as well as been assistant editor of King of the Universe Fanzine, interviewing Mike de Albuquerque at his lovely home. I helped organise the ELO Fan Conventions in 1996 in Wolverhampton and also ran the following fan convention at my home where Dave Morgan performed some songs for our German Friends at Starlight Fanzine (the official ELO Fanzine) I went on to run a ELO Youtube Channel with over 1 million hits.... not bad for "not a true fan'
(This guy is know for starting arguments every few months or so; he tents to upset someone or other with his opinions. My mother always taught me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all....
So if he replies to this thread, I won't be entertaining his replies)
Anyway, I buy everything ELO, so if I buy this unofficial item, it WILL NOT stop me buying it again if it is ever officially released.
Will it take money away from the artist? That's a hard one to answer, this item is rare and high priced. So Mr Joe Blogs isn't going to find it or buy it, he will get the Greatest Hits CD in HMV where the don't sell bootlegs, this kind of item has to be sought out by a true fan.
So my question is this? Do you own any bootlegs or any unofficial memorabilia?
Before you judge me... Take a look in the mirror.
This is why I love this forum, it has respect for it's members. debates can be had without cheap insults been used to point score!
Rant Over! I'm gonna listen to my new record with smug smile of my face. [/ul]

- Have you EVER listen to Beatles Forever?
- Saved a Concert to your computer or home-made DVD?
- Have you have a copy of the Time Tour Live Cassette given to you by another fan for example?
- Do you have a un-official ELO Pin Badge?
- Own a Live CD?
- A ELO T-Shirt of eBay?
