Hey guys,
Here is something I have been working on and polishing for some time now - an extended Concerto For A Rainy Day! The purpose of this originally was merely just to make it longer for listening pleasure. But soon, a friend had mentioned another artist who made symphonic material but on a more grander and cinematic scale. That had got me thinking about how the Concerto could be extended further if a more cinematic element was added in to add a new element to it. Thankfully, Lou Clark composed great orchestral movements for ELO Part II's Moment of Truth album.
The Moment of Truth pieces were edited digitally to match the sound of Out of the Blue's equalization so it is not a jarring difference. Some additional ELO stuff was added to further expand it in a way that felt consistent to the rest of the compositions and rainy day idea. Some resequencing was obviously needed to balance the Lou Clark pieces from the Jeff Lynne ones, so nothing dragged on for too long and kept the overall flow. Then finally, it all had to be done in a way that would not take away from the feature presentation - the four original Concerto tracks.
The final product comes out to 36 minutes and 17 seconds. That is enough to have it become an album on its own right. For that, it warranted a custom artwork - partially AI generated with some photo editing thrown in.
You can find it here:
CONCERTO FOR A RAINY DAY (EXTENDED)
Track List:
1. Concerto Intro/Moment of Truth Overture
2. Standin' In The Rain
3. Big Wheels/Interlude 3
4. Believe Me Now
5. Steppin' Out/Interlude 2
6. Moment of Truth
7. The Quick
8. Summer and Lightning
9. The Daft/Interlude 1
10. Mr. Blue Sky
11. Underture
12. Concerto Finale (or Reprise)
Anyways, I hope this is something you all can enjoy. It is certainly not to imply the original Concerto is lackluster or anything - it is fantastic the way it is. This was just a way to expand it (doubling the length!) in a way that makes the most sense.
