No doubt this has been discussed before (I can't remember!) but why was BOP issued in some countries on the Jet label but not the UK?

During a less-than-memorable holiday in the then Yugoslavia back in 1986, I went into a department store in Split and found (and of course bought) a copy of Balance Of Power. I was amazed to see it on the Jet label as I thought they'd had a clean break from them. I seem to remember discovering later that it hadn't actually been that clean and the legacy of it all was that many European copies outside of the UK were still on Jet. It was probably another reason that hastened the end of Jeff's interest in ELO at that time.

My understanding is that the Jet label being used on some early pressings for Balance Of Power was a result of regional plants not receiving a memo in time from CBS, which stated the company had upgraded from just serving as ELO's distributor. Rather than extending Jeff's contractual obligations, an agreement was reached where the original number of albums he was required to hand in remained the same, though the band was expected to make a set number of promotional appearances that included the handful of shows supporting Rod Stewart. Once they'd reached this threshold, any further planned activity was postponed, and the next we heard from ELO was when Bev tried reaching out for another possible album-tour cycle in late 1988, which led to Jeff - no longer under any legal ties - had what there still was of Jet issue a press statement declaring the group's official end.

I've just bought a Dutch copy of BOP from Discogs for around £15, I was expecting a higher price actually as this is classed as VG+.

So I bought the Jet label BOP and now I'm after the Jet label singles from the album. I'm looking at a New Zealand 7" Calling America but can't find So Serious and Getting To The Point as yet. One thing that I found though was a Dutch 7" So Serious on the usual Epic label but the Jet label BOP that I bought was from Holland so why the difference I wonder?

I still would like to see the late 1988 Jet press release announcing the end of ELO. I can't find it on the net. Just very odd that the press release hasn't surfaced, especially given the 35 years since the release of it.
