No Way Out was our lease favourite track on side two.
Vote for the worst track on side three above.

Endless Lies is my easy choice. Again, forgotten about the original track listing. I was thinking that this was the BOP version but still think Train Of Gold is weaker.

Train of Gold. Despite it being the only ELO track featuring a harmonica, it's not good enough.

Train Of Gold. Even easier call (and my beard is getting longer....) I wish to associated with this selection. TOG is a poor example of Jeff's talent. One of the few tracks I always skip.

R 'N R Is King. It's never connected with me and at the time just seemed like an attempt at a Hold On Tight reboot.

Looks like a close vote. Train of Gold gets my vote as "worst" song as it does nothing for me. At least Endless Lies is somewhat interesting - sounds like Jeff may have written it with Roy Orbison in mind.

"Endless Lies" on Balance of Power in 1986 is much more refined and better than this one from Secret Messages. "Train of Gold" is Jeff Lynne's tribute to "Chain of Fools" by Aretha Franklin, written by Don Covay who also wrote and had a hit with "Mercy, Mercy" at #35 in 1964, Jeff Lynne would later cover the latter on Long Wave in 2012 as its single with music video. When I played my cassette tape of Secret Messages back around 1993 after moving to Reno, Nevada, in 1992, there was an Italian guy from Bridgeport, Connecticut, who was into blues and jazz music that did not like it until "Train of Gold" came on, he said, now that's a good one. I've always liked it!
