It has to be the title track. At the time I couldn't believe that Jeff had resorted to a duet with a 'pop singer', and of all things, one who was fresh from her success with Grease, a film I still inwardly cringe at whenever it appears on our TV screens. I don't know if it's true that he was asked to put the word Xanadu into the song lyrics as many times as he reasonably could but as it appears 25 times in three and a half minutes it could well be. It leaves the song as a slice of sugary pure pop and it obviously worked! Of all the classic tunes he's ever written, this was the only one to top the UK singles charts.
With increasing age comes (hopefully) increasing wisdom and I don't mind it quite so much these days. I like his reworking of it and I enjoyed seeing it played live at Wembley.

The Fall does almost nothing for me.

Actually ... I am unable to pick a worst song as they are all equal in my eyes ... and would have been better than half of discovery if it had been merged

To me, Xanadu isn't a true ELO track. How can it be with ONJ singing lead? I agree that The Fall is weak BUT, it is truly an ELO song, through and through. I'm voting Xanadu.

I enjoy all of these songs and agree with dillwyn that they could easily have replaced some of the dodgier Discovery tunes. Going to copy Eloise's logic and go with Xanadu

Don't Walk Away is my choice. It just goes on, and is boring.

One of the great mysteries for me is why ONJ did not come on stage at ANY ELO show since 1981 to sing lead? That would have been a great pairing. It is ELO's only #1 single. Distance and money isn't an issue. Maybe Jeff isn't happy that the only ELO #1 single was sung by someone other than him? And why he re-recorded it later with his vocal? The original is still better. But the opportunity is permanently foreclosed now....

There are no bad songs on Xanadu and I'll not believe anyone who says otherwise! This is likely because there are so few songs on the soundtrack.
If I had to choose one I'd choose 'Xanadu' itself as it's a bit of a novelty and stops any of the other songs from being noticed.

"All over the world" is a cheap piece of crap. "There's gonna be a party all over the world"? What was he even thinking? Come on, Jeff, you are muuuuch better than that...
I'm tempted to say I hate it even more than "Turn to Stone". If it were for songs like that I would not only not be an ELO fan, but I'd hate ELO.
Luckily after that he went on to write "Time" and he proved that he was indeed muuuuch better than that.
