Sad news indeed, one of my all time favourite songs is 'Daylight Katy' RIP Gordon.

In many ways he captured the ethos of 70s, which I can remember somewhat.

I was introduced to Gordon by an older brother Joe, at the time "If You Could Read My Mind" came out. In his blood orange painted bedroom we'd sit on Joe's bed and play Gordon's records on a small black turntable. Interesting fact. The Captain of the the Edmund Fitzgerald, or a relative of his, I'm not sure which anymore, and my brother is not answering my calls (the knucklehead) had lived in our house at one time. So cool Idle Race recorded Bitter Green, another fav. RIP Mr Lightfoot. Another genius.

Gordon had a special place in my heart, he had such a unique voice and wrote such interesting songs. There are some really lovely messages on Twitter and quotes from people like Bob Dylan who all appreciated his talent. Best of all was this one: Maxwell White @maxwhitewxyz · 4h The Mariners' Church of Detroit will ring its bell 30 times at 3 p.m. today in honor of Gordon Lightfoot.
It rang its bell 29 times for those killed on the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975, and that was reflected in Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."I just thought that was perfect. Also, from Lake Superior herself:
Lake Superior @lakesuperior · 19h On a day when my waves resemble the gales of November, I ask...
Does any one know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
Rest in peace, Gordon Lightfoot, you will always have a place here. It's been good to know ya. 🙏🌊
RIP Gordon
