July 1st mark eight years since Horace Wimp's ELO Forum debuted. When I closed the ELO Forever forum, back in June of 2014, I did so because I thought social media was rendering message boards obsolete. I'm happy to admit I was wrong. Horacewimp has done an outstanding job keeping this incarnation of what began over twenty years ago as the Jeff Lynne Network Message Board, alive and well. Of course none of this could have happened without the devoted fan-base of ELO/Jeff Lynne and various associated artists.
Here's hoping for another eight and then some!
Writing all of this, I just realized that I've been a part of these boards, in one form or another, for a little over twenty years. That's a long time.

I didn't realize this forum had gone back that many years. I only remember the one before this. Happy Eighth! Yep. The first one, which was called the Jeff Lynne Network Message Board (aka the JLNMB) was run by a guy named Jules. After he decided to move on, Porter (who has posted here a few times) started a replacement board. That one was up for a few months before Porter started a new, more stable forum. When Porter became too busy with college, I took that one over for a while. Eventually, the webhost of that particular forum shut down, so I started the ELO Forever Forum on Proboards. So yea, if my memory serves me right, there have been five incarnations. This one has lasted longest of them all.

Blimey, 8 years! I think this forum has endured because the vast majority of people involved are here for the right reasons, despite the growth of other forms of social media. It's not just about loving the music, it's about respect for each other which has mostly been maintained despite the odd hiccup. Well, we're only human Supermassive thanks to Horacewimp, BSJ and queenofthehours for overseeing our success. Can't you hear all the noise? It's for you!
