How amazing would that be! Highly unlikely but still amazing....

Well, forgive me, but today's Fleetwood Mac reminds me of ELO Part 2.
I mean, they turfed Lindsey Buckingham......you know......the guy who made them!!

The front person is always integral to the success of the band and part 2 suffered because of this. Other bands such as Queen, were not the same and Buckinghams departure didn't help. I'd argue that he didn't make them, Mac were successful in the UK long before he came along and they changed to a soft rock band before he and Stevie joined.

I'd argue that he didn't make them, Mac were successful in the UK long before he came along and they changed to a soft rock band before he and Stevie joined. As I see it, it's not about the main frontman but about the main songwriter. Laave a frontman with no good songs to sing and there is no histrionics or charisma that will save him. Anyway, I'd reformulate the title of this thread to a more realistic "even if Fleetwood Mac are able to do it, doesn't mean ELO is a tad closer to doing it". To boot, several members of past lineups are gone for good, so even in the best of cases it would be minus Groucutt, McDowell, Clark, Edwards, etc... The only chance I see of Jeff announcing an ELO "reunion" is if Richard is the last man standing.

The last couple nights I have watched the video on demand concert for Mick Fleetwood & Friends tribute to Peter Green and the early Fleetwood Mac. What an excellent show!
Jeremy Spencer was on stage with MF for the first time in 50 years and he sounded fantastic too. FM has had at least 3 lives, but the common part of it is that MF is more accomodating to history than JL is. MF is well aware he is not getting younger and I think it is great if all members of FM could get on stage to play together again. I'd pay for that, much like the show at the London Palladium last year.
