When I was a kid I had a lot of time on my hands.....and one lil fave pass time I used to do on my own (keep it clean) was imagining my dream bands regroup with new members filling in the post of old members. I'll start this off with my choice. here goes!!! Guitar Vocs. Jeff Lynne. Lead Guitar. Andy Powell, Eric Clapton. Bass and backing vocs. PaulMcCartney. Keys. Richard Tandy and Rick Wakeman, Mike Pinder, Mike Garson. Drums. John Bonham or Ian Paice. String section. London Philharmonic Orchestra, Nigel Kennedy. Brass section. Chicago's section or Candy dulfer. anyway have fun and let your imagination take you anywhere!

I would choose a formation similar to jefflynnenut's but in the bras section I would put Pamela Anderson.

And every instrument Roy Wood plays has another guy who is playing it. That's overpopulation.

I love the stones! I had the privilege of meeting the said gentleman 15 years ago at a gig in Dublin. It was sensational! What a musician! Love him on tubular bells live with Mike Old field in '73 worth a view on youtube!!! Stones album thats sticks out for me with Mick playing is "Goats head soup".

Yeah, you are right, JLN, why limit ourselves when the idea here is fantasizing?
And yeah, Mick Taylor is a hell of a guitarist IMO. They say he never felt comfortable with the Stones because Keith Richards was jealous of him.

Listen to the solo in "100 years ago" on goats head soup. In my opinion it rivals anything clapton was playing with cream 6 years before on "crossroads"....bloody great musician and decent piano player to boot as well!!!!

On this forum's predecessor, there used to be a similar thread. My choice would be what could have been a continuation of ELO during Lynne's years as a record producer during the 90s. Hence the inclusion of Phil Jones as the drummer. Also, in this dream lineup, burnt bridges between Jeff and the two protagonists of OrKestra have been fixed.
Jeff Lynne: vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums Richard Tandy: keyboards Phil Jones: drums, percussion Kelly Groucutt: bass, vocals Mik Kaminski: violin David Scott-Morgan: guitar, backing vocals
