Interesting.....it will be fun to imagine what is going through E.L.O fans who see Orkestra, part 2 and the likes as "cover" groups! Nice choice bringing Dave back! Great musician!

I have to go with: Jeff Lynne, guitar, vocals. Roy Wood, guitar, bass, cello, keyboards, vocals. Bev Bevan, drums. Michael de Albuquerque, bass. Mike Edwards, cello. Hugh McDowell, cello. Melvyn Gale, cello. Mik Kaminski, violin. Richard Tandy, keyboards. Hey, but you are putting 3 cellists there, when ELO used only 2. You'll have to fire one. And every instrument Roy Wood plays has another guy who is playing it. That's overpopulation. This is the dream lineup - more of everything!

I wonder who our newer members would pick? I'm guessing there would be a one man band for a certain someone....

Wouldn't be much of a band.

Frankly, I'd just like to see Jeff make it up with Bev and have him join the current line -up (sorry Donovan, nothing personal!) hopefully along with Richard and see them together even for just one last time. That would be a fitting way to conclude the ELO story.

It's rare to think in a band with lost members -Mike Edwards, Hugh, Kelly...-, but anyway, I think we can have interesting line-ups! Here's mine:
Jeff Lynne - Vocals, guitars Richard Tandy - Keyboards Bev Bevan - Drums, percussion Mike the Albuquerque - Bass, backing vocals Milton McDonald - Guitar, backing vocals
Mik Kaminski - Violin Rosie Langley - Violin
Melvyn Gale - Cello Amy Langley - Cello Jessica Cox - Cello
Don't tell me you don't imagine a duet between Rosie and Mik on Livin' Thing or even on the ElDorado Overture!!

I have to say my dream lineup is the Magnificent Seven themselves... oh, what I wouldn’t give to have been alive to see them back in their day! But back on topic, I do think it would be very interesting to see a collaboration between Jeff and my second-favorite rockin’ cello duo, 2CELLOS. The group consists of Croatian cellists Stjepan Hauser and Luka Šulić, who play classical pieces and movie soundtracks, but are best known for their covers of rock and pop songs. ELO seems like it would be right up their alley—including the on-stage antics during Roll Over Beethoven, and even exploding cellos (it’s not in either of these, but there is a video where they smash their cellos at the end). Here are a couple of my personal favorites from them. In the second video, Stjepan reminds me of Hughie so much that it hurts

Lovely, I can also recommend Apocalyptica if you're not already aware of them

What a tough call! I love the magnificent seven but it would be cool to see: Jeff Lynne, lead vocals & guitar Del Shannon, backing vocals Brian May, guitar Bev Bevan, drums/percussion & backing vocals Paul McCartney, piano/keyboard & backing vocals Mike de Albuquerque, bass Melvyn Gale & Hugh McDowell, cello Mik Kaminski, violin
Not a lot different (and probably a bit heavy on the backing vocals) but still would be fun to see.
Edit: also throwing in Tom Petty & Phil Collins somewhere would be fun too

I love topics like these!
This line-up is essentially the classic (1975 Eldorado tour - 1979 Discovery music videos), and 1981-1982 Time tour line-up fused into one! Not sure exactly how this would play out in the studio but this would be a formidable band when playing live. Dave Morgan will help Jeff Lynne out on guitar sounds and additional harmonies similar to how he did during the tours he was involved in. Jeff and Kelly with swap lead vocals. Richard and Bev will be in their usual stations. Lou Clark will play string arrangements to help compliment the real string sounds which were sometimes a gamble during live performances. But the string trio will be here as well, with Mik having his solo spotlight and giving cello solo spot to Mel, who would probably improvise his solo as opposed to Hugh who played the same tune every show. Hugh, with his energetic showmanship would have the exploding cello bit, giving the show a real bang!
Jeff Lynne: Vocals, lead guitar, backing vocals Dave Morgan: Rhythm guitar, backing vocals Kelly Groucutt: Vocals, bass guitar, backing vocals Richard Tandy: Piano, keyboards Lou Clark: String synthesizer Bev Bevan: Drums, percussion, backing vocals Mik Kaminski: Violin (Including violin solo) Hugh McDowell: Cello (Including exploding cello bits) Melvyn Gale: Cello (Including cello solo)
