Bobby Ball died last week at the age of 76 -
I went to see Cannon and Ball live in 2016 at my local theatre and they were hilarious . I couldn't remember any jokes off the top of my head but I do remember laughing a lot and having a great time. Am I allowed to say I enjoyed them more than Ken Dodd?
This is one of the sketches they performed in the show -
I remember watching their TV show when I was little but the two following clips were before my time.
Here they are with Rik Mayall -
And with Status Quo ("No, that's not ELO...") -

Personally, I never 'got' C+B (I was more of a Two Ronnie's fan) but I liked Bobby in his later roles such as Lee Macks dad in Not Going Out...

Tommy Cannon sat behind Mrs T and I on a flight to Cyprus a few years ago.

More varied than taste in clothes I think. When I went to see Ken Dodd I hardly laughed at all. I mean, I appreciated old Ken but I just couldn't laugh as much as I felt I should. I felt like such a fraud being there! But it was a nice experience anyway. I loved Bobby in Not Going Out but I don't think I'm keen on Lee himself.

We didn't laugh out loud much when we went to see Ken Dodd either, it was surprising. Everyone who goes to see someone like him is fully prepared to find them funny but sometimes it just doesn't happen. I think some nights a comedian really clicks with an audience which bounces back and forth from them to the stage and creates an atmosphere where everything seems to be hilarious.

Perhaps comedy is like a stage play with a top actor starring in it - you can appreciate the performance quality but don't understand the plot.
