I’ve been thinking about what Jeff could do different on the new tour as far as the “ old bangers “ goes.. I’ve been lucky enough to get to a few shows and by my reckoning, here is a list of the hit songs he hasn’t played.
I’m alive, Don’t walk away, Four little diamonds, Ticket to the moon, Confusion, Rock n Roll is king, Here is the news, Calling America, Ma Ma Ma belle, TDOHW, and Hold on tight, which I think would be a great song to end the show with!!!!
Would many of you like any of these included in the set list. I know everyone here could list a fantastic show with no hits but a lot of the audience would only be familiar with the hits. Not easy for Jeff to choose a revamped set list.

Really Really hope that "The Diary of Horace Wimp" would be added, I've seen ELO tribute acts play it and it goes down very well.
Rock N Roll is King was played in 2014 at London's Hyde Park, but yes I would like to see it played again in the set list.
Would also love to see the show open with the "loud banger" of Night In The City.

That’s a great shout for an opener. Must give it a listen, haven’t played it for a long time.

When I found out that Ma Ma Ma Belle and Twilight were played at Wembley I really wished those would be added back into the setlist. Ticket to the Moon, Confusion, and Calling America were all I believe played live pretty frequently back in the day and would be my picks to add to the show, same goes for Strange Magic. Fire On High is another one that a lot of people know, but I doubt that one will ever make its way into the setlist again.

"Ticket to the Moon" and "Confusion" have very little chance of being played now because they are fairly slow tempo. TttM is one of my favorite songs ever, and I would die happy if I could hear it on this tour, but I don't expect it.
I'm hopeful we may get more 80s songs, like "Calling America" and "Hold on Tight." Jeff did "Rock and Roll is King" in the warm up shows in 2015. Maybe he would bring that one back.
I was privileged to hear "Ma Ma Ma Belle" and "Twilight" at Wembley. He also played "Twilight" at Sheffield that year. Maybe at Glasgow, but I didn't see that show. They were both thrilling.

ive listened to the string mixes above 2 or 3 times now...there are some lovely bits in there, it doesn't feel right though somehow.

dillwyn - I agree and while I don't have any particular expertise on modern digital production techniques ... I can think of a couple of reasons why LC Jr's strings versions wouldn't feel quite "right". #1 - Lou Jr isn't as practiced at this as Lou Sr #2 - and more importantly, Lou Jr probably doesn't have access to all of the digital parts of the original mix. It's important for the various parts not to step all over each other. The producer needs space to work in. If Lou Jr had access to each of the layers then he could pull things apart to create that space and then layer the strings into the voids. Lou layered strings on top of Jeff's complete mix and we're hearing 2 competing visions for the song rather than one cohesive production. Maybe some others who have worked with Pro Tools or Garage Band can explain it better.

I assume that Jeff has authorized this? If so,is he on friendly terms with Lou snr? Given that Lou was in part2 along with Bev,Kelly,Mik and Hughie....

If you ignore who did this, it is essentially a fan effort with someone making overdubs onto a released recording, hence the odd mix as others have said. If this was meant to have strings on it, it would have strings on it... and the other instruments would make space. Good effort, but I am not sure what the point is. JL has total control and command over the sound, regardless of what anyone wants it to sound like. I may also be alone in thinking FOON as one of the best ELO albums, for the sort of autumnal/late in life feel to the songs. I think he has got better about expressing his feelings in songs from Zoom onwards. Of course, the sound changed too, and that is not to everyone's taste, but I like it a lot.

Unfortunately, it's the only ELO album I don't own. I've tried plenty of times via Spotify, but I find it entirely formulaic. Delighted loads of people like it though. Hanging on to see early set lists before I commit to the tour. Not prepared to pay premium rates for the same songs as the last 7 times.

I think the strings mixes are fantastic. Takes the songs from Traveling Wilburys land back to ELO ville...

I quite like the Louis Clark Jr remixes, although not perfect, but that is to be expected, but it gives a big hint of what FOON could have sounded like if Jeff had brought some of his current band into the recording studio. Hopefully if Jeff does have some more songs in the locker for the future he will make it happen. Also I see a lot of ELO fans are not overly impressed with FOON stick with it, it’s a real grower. When ZOOM was first released It did nothing for me, now I love it.
