thank you for adding me! i am a huge Jeff Lynne fan. when i was 6 i played my dad's ELO vinyls endlessly then asked if i could keep them, which my dad did, although he weren't too happy about it lol. but i had great fun finding all the albums in between the one's i had. every one sounded different although have the ELO sound. and to this day, i am now 35 and still play ELO a hell of a lot. in between all the other bands i love so much. and trust me, my taste is very wild and far out lol. so i could be listening to The Dead Kennedy's for awhile and then get the need for some Jeff Lynne. even now, that man still surprises me. absolute genius. i am also glad that he is now getting more recognition. but it was bound to happen. when i was a teenager i would tell people older than me that i am an ELO fan and they would grunt and say 'yeah! they sound a bit dated now!' then in my 20's i am talking to musicians in their teens saying 'yeah! ELO are pretty cool!' so the vibe is changing. but i still have trouble trying to convince people that Genesis are an amazing band lol. but hell, i like them. anyway, thank you again and i hope my long message hasn't bored anyone!

Great to have you on the forum jamie79, thanks for giving us some background information on why you like ELO/Jeff. It amazes me the cross section of fans we have from people who saw ELO back in the 70s to younger members who have just discovered ELOs music. Hope you like the new forum, we have only been running for a few weeks so have a look around and make yourself at home

It's been a while until I finally found this place. It's too bad that the "ELO Forever Forum" has been deleted through being discontinued by the moderator, seemingly without any prior warning.
Thanks Horace for starting afresh. However, this board might never get back the users from inside of the ELO camp who had joined the old board over the years, like Jake Commander's brother for instance, or that other young lady who was even more on the inside.
Yet, it's great to have a place to talk again.

It's still early day for us hopefully we will attract some more of the old members and plenty of new ones.

I love a good forum, pleased to see a nice active one on ELO so couldn't resist joining. My one claim to their fame is winning the old fan club competition YEARS ago and taking home Bev's silver disc for ANWR, still proudly on my wall here in sunny South Wales. Must confess to being more of a Muse fan these days but I've already found out lots of interesting stuff from this forum and the Discovery website and can feel myself being lured back to the Light

Thanks! Actually since discovering Spotify I've listened to loads more ELO as when it shuffles it seems to like their tracks best of all. It has excellent taste. Oh, and forgot to say my first daughter's middle name is Kuiama. Nobody ever pronounces it right. It would have been her first name but hubby is a devotee of Alice Cooper...at least we used his first name and not his second. Kuiama is one of my all time faves, I promised myself I'd name one of my kids after it well before any actual boys showed any interest in me at all

That's cool about naming your daughter. Does the name Kuiama have a meaning or was it made up by Jeff, I've just googled it and can't seem to find an answer.

Hmm, I suppose I just assumed it was a real name Jeff had heard somewhere. He's often said doesn't spend much time composing lyrics, he probably wouldn't go to the trouble of inventing a new name. Probably someone he knows had a pet called Kuiama, or it's a make of guitar strings or something.Hope it's not a brand of bog roll.

In the Jeff Lynne song database is a quote from Bev saying it is a Vietnamese girls name. Wherever the name comes from I love it and hope you daughter likes her unusual middle name as well

Aha! I think she likes it, it's quite good to have a strange middle name in case you grow up and become something bohemian, then you can swap them round. My other daughter's middle name is Cloud But that's enough about me, I'm off to vote in the album cover poll

Welcome to the new board lighyearsahead Would you be kind enough to add as as a link on your website? Yep, I'll update the site over the weekend! A bit late I'm afraid as I had to wait for the monthly update of the site but the link is now added.
