Great photo elophile ! Thanks! Hugh's daughter is beautiful, and she really does resemble her father very much! Mel with a beard? Interesting...Even after all these years, he's still the cutest of the bunch in my book! And Mr. K. is looking as charming as ever!

Wow, a lovely photo at a very sad occasion. Amazing to think that this is probably the first time since 1979 that Mel and Mik have been seen and photographed together, a mere 40 years ago!!! Hope they remain in contact.

Hope they remain in contact. Here are Mel and Mik with Kelly and Phil Bates, photographed in 2008 after Mel attended an Orchestra gig in the UK.

I wonder if any other ex ELO members were present at the funeral? It would have been nice to have seen Bev and Louis there too.

Just came in to lament Hugh's passing away. He was so young. Such a pity.

He was the most amazing cellist EVER! I get my love of cello from him, they're the most awesome instruments. Sadly, there will never be another like him.

RIP Hugh. Even to this day, when Mr. Blue Sky is playing, my lad ALWAYS comes up and grabs my shoulder on the "Creeping over now his hand is on your shoulder" line. He does his level best to creep up on me unawares and get the maximum reaction. Thanks for that Hugh, my lad is 15 and still copying you, that's quite an accolade.

I think JLELO is missing a member like Hughie, someone who was great to watch and lifted the live show. As much as I love the current band they are a little boring to watch...

I agree with you Timeblue. It wasn't just Hughie that owned the stage - Mik and Mel did as well. They gave the impression of being completely unboring classical musicians. Old videos of them in action are priceless
