I think we've done something like this before but that was more along the lines of choosing a dream line up of ELO containing additional non-ELO members. This time I thought it might be fun to think about how everyone's ideal ELO line up would look if you could only choose between TWO different line-ups. For example you cannot have a string section made up of Hugh, Jess Cox and Steve Woolam as that would be THREE different line-ups!
Choose any member who has ever played alongside Jeff under the name of ELO. Current Wembley or Bust band allowed but not ELO part 2 unless they were in the original group. Here is a handy list of who joined and when en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra#Personnel
Of course you don't even have to pick Jeff as singer, you could have Roy or even eject Jeff from the band altogether .
Mine is the Eldorado line-up plus a new boy -
Guitar/Vocals - Jeff Acoustic guitar/backing vocals - Mike Stevens (he represents us all - a fan lucky enough to play with his hero) Bass/backing vocals - Mike de Albuquerque Drums - Bev Keyboards - Richard (the king of pianos) Violin - Mik Cello - Hugh (every cello needs a Hugh) Cello - Mike Edwards (for the explosions)

I really like the classic OOTB line-up including Kelly. I'd put Mike Edwards in if I could for the same reason you chose (explosions? yes please!) but can't imagine giving Hughie or Mel the boot This is why I will never make a music manager, Sharon Osborne's position is safe....

I would also go for the Out Of The Blue line-up, but I'd like to get Mike de A in there somewhere. Perhaps he and Kelly could share bass and vocal duties? Or (a sneaky way of celebrating Roy's influence) - Mike de A could switch to a new instrument. He could play the vacuum cleaner if he liked. There's bound to be someone who could teach him.
