new song from Manchester Orchestra, sounds like REM being haunted by ghosts their song from a year or two ago "The Gold" is more upbeat, but this one is beautiful

Nice post, orioles70 (but the Madness hit from 1982 is a completely different song)...

is Yola the next Adele? probably not, but I sure like this one Yola is new to Americans, but here's her story of how she came to her country-soul sound. Carter was a fiddle-playing kid growing up in a small seaside town in the southwest corner of the U.K., enthralled with Dolly Parton's autobiographical Appalachian tales, then a young adult treating the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack and The Byrds' Sweethearts of the Rodeo as gateways into exploring everything from old-time music to longhaired country-rock. www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2016/10/24/498829995/real-actual-roots-yola-carter-on-growing-up-british-loving-americana

Guster has a new one out that is kind of funny - they get really silly and sing in Brit speak, which is not typical at all for them
here's a more typical one - with strings making it a little ELOish
concert date coming up in Philly soon

How does You Tube know what I want before I do? Wacky combo with Cello, Banjo and Finger Snaps. Anyone ever heard of The Dead South? 100 million views - how did I miss 'em?
one very impressive beard as well
I looked up their tour dates - currently in the UK, including Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham before heading across to the Continent.

Hurray! Tragedy have a new album coming out and here's a sneaky taster Honestly, if you have the chance to see them anywhere near you don't miss them - to be sure it's a parody but the musicianship is second to none and the entertainment value is off the scale, trust me

dillwyn : yesterday the Argentine newspaper Diario Popular published an interview to Per Gessle (of Roxette) where they asked him a similar question to the one I asked you: " How is the process of songwriting to you? Is finding inspiration easier or harder as the years go by?". Per's answer is interesting, and not that far from what I was saying: " It's no so different than before. However, it tends to be easier to write mid-tempo ballads than upbeat songs. Those 3-chord gems are hard to find at my age. You've got to have the ability of keeping it 'simple' and that's hard to do when you have written as many songs as I did. Lately I tend to complicate music. I hate that" Another interesting subject we also talked about came with this question: " Are the experiences of your life related to the songs you have written?", to which Gessle answers: " all the time Even though most of the lyrics are not about me, they are written by me, so I'm somewhere in there. But at the same time, it's all fiction. I'm a writer, I'm notmaking confessions". Makes me feel better about not being able to write much about myself.

Simple is easier when you aren't as great a musician as he is trust me and I literally took a decade and half off doing it....
I've used a theme / story if you will ... it isn't mine but it could have been (elements certainly are) ... it has given a framework but I'm now 19/20 songs in and to cut it down is getting harder as even though now i suspect i'm repeating myself... i'm enjoying the newer songs more because they are less familiar. So I will have to watch i use the best tracks.
I'm currently about to start a studio search for the first 3-5 tracks (march/april time) ... we can't afford a lock out so will have to take the best we can get.
