As some of you know from a previous thread of mine (It's Oeuvre) - JL has produced (in the sense of manufactured) less than 24 hours of music during his career. All of his output fits very easily on a single small MP3 player; which gave me an idea recently for making my own personal-at-home "Radio Jeff".
Rummaging through my copious boxes of junk, I found an old MP3 player (just 4GB!) - worth all of about $10; next I found an old automotive radio adaptor (the kind you use to play your mp3 music player through the car radio) - it's essentially a tiny FM transmitter, worth (again) about $10.
I loaded all my ELO etc music files onto the MP3 player (set on random play), hooked it up to the car radio adapter/transmitter (with both devices running off a spare USB power supply) and bingo!
My very own 'Radio Jeff' now plays 24/7 at home; I can listen to it thru any of the 5 or 6 radios/hifis I have scattered around the house (and via a radio headset when I'm gardening), and just like a real radio station I never know what's coming on next - but it's always JL!
Just another way to drive the rest of the family nuts!

Good idea! When you say he made less than 24 hours of music it doesn't sound a lot but in reality it is..

Ok I've had a couple of days to try out this system; what surprises me is how ADDICTIVE it is to listen to all of JL's songs all mixed up in any old order. Up to now I've been a bit of a 'purist' - insisting on listening to an album at a time, with the songs in their God-given (or at least JL-given) order - but random tracks from any album is really refreshing. I find myself listening anew to songs that have almost become rote - and the 'playing 24 hours a day' feature means even when I'm not listening, I know that somewhere the songs I love ARE still playing, and all it takes is the press of a button to give me a pleasant surprise.
Never mind the radio bit - shuffled JL is a real blast!

(Bump) Radio Jeff is still going strong at my house, with a confirmed audience of one - me. I have added more songs - now up to 160 in total. I often go to sleep with it playing - and wake up the next morning feeling relaxed and at peace. It's also nice to wander from room to room during the day, with the radio/stereo in each room playing the same program. I've made a data CD of those 160 songs in alphabetical order by song name (required a bit of compressing to fit on one CD, but still reasonable sound quality) which I play on the car stereo (since my 7 y.o. car does not have an MP3 slot in the stereo). And I'm still no nearer to getting tired of any of it!

No, prob’s. I enjoy an early breakfast. All the fixin’s, coffee black and the daily New York Times, unread. My cock-tail hour starts around 4:30. Just before an early dinner.

Now that I have my own 'radio Jeff' playing JL songs randomly 24 hours a day, a new game has suggested itself to me. I turn the bass way up and the treble way down (on the stereo) and turn the volume down so that all I can hear is the bass guitar (and sometimes drums) - and try to guess what song is playing. Harder than it sounds. Harmless fun with which to while away the hours.... Or you could use this as a party game to amaze and entertain your wide circle of friends. Hmmm....perhaps I need to get out more!

What are the easy songs? Hard songs?

What are the easy songs? Hard songs? Easy songs are the 'doof doof' ones like DBMD and Bouncer. Hard ones are all the rest....

Radio Jeff is still going strong; I've added songs from 'Armchair' - bringing the total of tracks to 173. Next will be Longwave...
