Here's another couple of 'I wish I knew that' questions....
1) In the segue between Twilight and Yours Truly, 2095 you hear an computer game sound effect (actually probably an arcade game) - but what game is it from?
2) Halfway through the first verse of Yours Truly, there is a pause while JL says "can you hear me"; in the background a high voice is singing something - but what?
All contributions gratefully received.....

My first post here but thought I had seen something relating to the first part. A bit of digging and credit to ShardEnder who made reference in another forum.
"...the sound effect used between Twilight and Yours Truly, 2095 on Time, which is actually the game over jingle of the 1978 Harlem Globetrotters On Tour pinball machine. If you look carefully in the short documentary on the making of Queen's One Vision, also recorded at Musicland Studios, this very model can be seen in the facility's lounge, along with the same glass-topped coffee table Mack once recorded Jeff throwing an ashtray through for the intro to On The Run from Discovery!"
Originally the sound effect was longer but Jeff reduced it to just a short element.
Hope this solves the first part, at least; second element sounds like ... world ... at the end of the phrasing?

I was going to say it sounded more like a pinball machine than an arcade game (honest!)

Ok thanks muchly BlueMission . There's plenty of vids on NewbTube of that game; the sound I was looking for comes at the end - the 'game over' sound. And (as so often) thanks to ShardEnder for having done the research - perhaps a link to the original source interview?

Thanks Timeblue - but that site doesn't clear the matter up, just points it out. I lack the software to separate the two voice tracks (and perhaps try playing it backwards); I know others here can do that....

Ok here's the pinball machine from the Queen doco:
But I'm buggered blessed if I can see a glass-topped coffee table; any guidance someone?
Freddie was a very single-minded person; it's a pity simular vision of JL at work does not exist.

Of course you won't see the exact same coffee table in that brief Queen documentary - this footage was shot in 1985, while Jeff had already smashed the glass top over six years before (during the Discovery sessions, to be precise)! My source for that information about the pinball sample heard after Twilight wasn't an interview, but rather the conclusion of some research on my part. Jeff once said that the effect was from such a machine, and I knew from watching the making of One Vision that Musicland later had the Harlem Globetrotters On Tour cabinet. I didn't even have to look for that long on YouTube to find a video that contained the game over jingle he sampled, confirming this must have been there as early as 1981, though I'm no closer to figuring out that background vocal heard in Yours Truly, 2095...
