I still have a ticket for an ELO gig that never was, please let me explain below.
In the Fall of 2011, Mik Kaminski and Phil Bates had booked to undertake a mini tour of UK pubs called "Beer and Blues", I think that was the tours title, but I may be wrong. One of the venues was The Crossroads Inn at Wainstalls, about a mile from my home here in Halifax. My mate Andy and his good wife Elsie and myself decided to attend, the tickets were about £10 each. We bought our tickets but something was wrong, they were printed as being "Electric Light Orchestra", not Mik Kaminski and Phil Bates. Our gig was scheduled for the 14th of October.
On the night of the gig I was on my way to it when Andy rang me to say that the gig had been cancelled, I asked him why such short notice. He explained that he'd contacted the landlord of the Crossroads Inn about the seating and the landlord told him that the gig had been cancelled due to Phil Bates having a broken leg. Both he and Mik were on tour with The Orchestra in Uraguay, after one of their concerts Phil fell down a staircase due to poor lighting and broke his left leg.
The landlord of the Crossroads refunded our ticket price and we got to keep the tickets. The tickets were a cheap looking crudely cut home made job made from cardboard. Here it is below, an unused Electric Light Orchestra ticket for a gig that never was.

And people wonder why JL gets wound up about this sort of stuff. Bates is a parasite who should be put in a box of cow shit quite honestly.
I'll add that gig had nothing to do with ELO how did it ever get promoted as such

And people wonder why JL gets wound up about this sort of stuff. Bates is a parasite who should be put in a box of cow shit quite honestly. I'll add that gig had nothing to do with ELO how did it ever get promoted as such The only promotion that particular gig got was in the local Halifax press. I'm fairly certain that the tickets being printed as ELO was down to the Australian born landlord of the Crossroads, put it down to ignorance, he probably didn't know the difference. Phil Bates does know the difference and he's making a living out of Jeff Lynne's songs and he's dragging the ELO name through the gutter, he's little more than pond life. He lives up to the name of his 1970's band "Trickster", he's tricking the general public into thinking they're paying to see ELO, his bands have no connection with ELO whatsoever. The members of his fake bands are from Germany.
I hope Jeff successfully sues him for all he has.
Here's some of his piracy below. As usual with my posts, click on the images to enlarge.

I did a double take and I thought THE Johnny Cash!! Great bit of history is your ticket! It's Pete Caulton, a Johnny Cash tribute artist, the tribute part is on the line below Johnny Cash. The Kopykat Kinks are a Kinks tribute band. As I said above, the ticket is cheap looking and looks homemade. I think the pub landlord printed them himself on his computer, certainly looks that way.
I'll hang on to it, no matter how bad it looks.
