Has anyone pre-ordered the above book? It's by John van der Kiste and is released on 20th July, might be worth a read.

Does it feature musical information on each song or just when it was recorded, where, etc...?

Mine arrived at lunchtime had a very quick flick through it before returning to work.
It seems to list the ELO, ELO Pt2 and Jeff Lynne's ELO albums in song order with the authors personal view of the each song detailed, first impression was it's not great but as I say not really had much time to explore the pages.
There is a section of colour pictures.

Maybe I was a bit harsh, I've started reading the book this evening and it is interesting, I don't think it will really have anything new in it but it's a good reference.

I bought the ebook-version last week. What can I say? Although I haven't read all the chapters so far, I definitely wouldn't recommend this book to hardcore ELO fans. I think there is some interesting information regarding the earlier albums, but in general, you don't get much detail at all. Plus my impression is that Mr Van der Kiste didn't spend that much time on research, since there are many wrong pieces of information. For example, he still relates the "Bouncer should actually be a SM-track myth" which was exploded by Rob Caiger many many years ago. Added to this, he doesn't seem to care for ELO's keyboard experiments at all. How come that he talks of "the absence of synths" on AITU (wrong) or lists Moog as the only synth on "Discovery" (the most important synth on that record is the Yamaha CS-80, and a honourable mention should go to the ARP Odyssey). To sum up, to me, this is nothing special, a real disappointment.

I'll wait until a few more reviews come out, but so far it doesn't seem like a "must have".
