Whatever that emotion might be.
For me, Big Wheels from Out Of The Blue, always brings a tear to my eye. That first verse and then those strings sweep in is really beautifull and is one of Jeff's very best songs. Coupled with memories of a 12 year old me, sitting in front of my record player in my bedroom , headphones on, pretending I was Bev.

Emotional in the sense of bringing a tear to my eye, I'd say none from ELO. If there ever was one close to that or which produced a similar emotion it has to be "Hold on tight". But if we are talking about making my hair stand up on end, then there are several: "Midnight blue" (what a freaking masterpiece!), "The way life's meant to be", "Can't get it out of my head", "Sweet is the night" and of course "Summer and lightning". Those give me some strong emotions as a response to music, but not the kind which makes you want to cry. They are more like entering a trance or something, haha.

I got some dust in my eye when Can't Get It Out Of My Head was played at Hyde Park.

ELO - since Hyde Park: All Over The World. Off the top of me head: Halleluiah, Leonard Cohen, sung K.D. Lang. (Enough, Helmut. Just enough with that Midnight Poo train wreck. You are embarrassing yourself! )

I'll never get enough of "Midnight Blue". Hey, BSJ... I get the sensation that you started being a big fan of that "All over the world" song since Hyde Park, didn't you? It's like before that you didn't even realize it existed, then one day Jeff Lynne plays it live and all of a sudden it's the best song ever...

Frisky today ain't we? First in the comic thread and now here? No need to start a turf war by running down my song and because you can't make sense of the lyrics. Don't start, just don't start. I had to shovel today and am in a foul MOOD!!!

Nooo! You had to shovel? Now that explains a lot of things! Pictures! Pictures! (BTW, I agree about "Hallellujah" by Leonard Cohen being a pretty emotional song)

I think I'm doing just fine. But just you wait!
Going back to the org thread. "Nights in White Satin" and "A Whiter Shade of Pale" always has me wistful.

When Time Stood Still always gets me. A few that just make me feel good are The Way Life is Meant to Be, Eldorado, and Tightrope.

I find Blown Away quite affecting. Many ELO songs are wistful & pluck the heartstrings, Big Wheels, Midnight Blue, Shangri-la...
