Apart from Hold on Tight, Rattled or Rock n Roll Is King I'm struggling to recall his last 3/4 chord 50's rocker. Let It Run, I'm Gone, Out of Luck and, even though it's not originally a Jeff Lynne song, Don't Let Go. That being said, I really like I'm Gone. I wish he had remastered that one for the reissue of Armchair Theatre. I wouldn't have called let it run a 50's rocker. More like an 80's new wave cum reggae. I'll give you Out of Luck though that was a bonus track rather a single.

It's weird to see people saying "I want! I want! I want!!". Damn, just be happy that we're getting new music from the genius! Damn right. Don't be too fussy folks.

If you are on EDT that's 5 hours behind us in the UK. I expect it will be played between 7.30 and 8.00am but that's only a guess, so late night or early morning for you BSJ

I can just hear the announcement now...
"and so, after 15 years, I am happy to announce that the title of the new ELO album will be: Longer Wave! A tribute to the greatest hits of the early 20th century! As a bonus, he has also re-recorded the entirety of the previous ELO album, Zoom! It is a *cough* good time to be an ELO fan!"

Joking apart I sometimes wonder what Jeff has to do to keep his fan base happy. It's like some people think he owes us something. He doesn't. He's left us with a wonderful legacy of songs and if he decided to hang up his guitar and sit with his pipe and slippers for the duration none of us could complain.
The fact that he hasn't and still wants to make music is just terrific news. I for one intend to raise a glass to the man and enjoy the ride.

It's weird to see people saying "I want! I want! I want!!". Damn, just be happy that we're getting new music from the genius! I won't be happy with anything just because it's Jeff Lynne's new music, I will be happy depending on it's quality. Being Jeff Lynne I think we can expect from him something which isn't crap, and if it's crap, I will be disappointed and say I wanted another thing. That being said, I'm sure it won't be crap.

However, if he has been saying he will put out a new album since at least 4 years ago, why can't fans expect him to fulfill that promise?

I just hope the new song isn't another rockabilly. Yes, I'm sure there will be at least one on the new album - this is Jeff Lynne, after all. But seriously, after all this time, I want to hear something lush and/or exciting! Not a three/four-chord 50s rocker. Other than "Rattled", I'm not a huge fan of his rockabillies either (although I wouldn't count some of the ones you mentiones, like "Rock n roll is king" and particularly "Let it run", as rockabilly). However, I'm not too worried about few chords songs as long as the melody is good enough. To give an example, I think most of us will agree that CGIOOMH is a masterpiece and it's built over 5 chords (and 5 obvious chords); it's the melody what makes it great. If he produces stuff that good, he could make it over 3 chords for me. That being said, Jeff Lynne has a gift for putting up great melodies over some original chords sequences, so I'd expect something of that as well. Thanks Horacewimp for the link, it works in Argentina so I'll stay up. Will you, BSJ?

Anybody else see Jeff's profile picture updates on Facebook?? It's getting so real now! I just hope that grey-on-grey picture of him isn't the album artwork...
