Some more I thought of.
ELO Part Two officially calls it quits An ELO song re-enters the Billboard top 40 after appearing in a Tik Tok video Mik Kaminski plays on a song for the new Jeff Lynne's ELO album.

Part II officially came to an end in late '99 after Bev sold his 50% share in the ELO name back to Jeff, who has since retained the exclusive rights to use this. Since then, his colleagues have continued recording and performing as The Orchestra, though they are also able to use the phrase "Electric Light Orchestra/ELO Part II Former Members" in promotional material when referring to their past related band activities.
As for the possibility of an ELO song recharting, I definitely wouldn't rule this one out - it's happened to a few compilation albums already, so why not a single that features in something prominently enough to attract a large enough new audience?
Now, a reunion between Jeff, Mik and perhaps Richard or even Bev has to be the dream! There's pretty much one reason why we know it's unlikely to happen for our favourite (and only?) blue violinist, but I'm sure many fans will keep crossing their fingers. Until the day it becomes too late, I'd say there really is no excuse...

I don't see any reconciliation in Jeff or Bev's future. Hasn't been for a long long time.
With the recent news of a new album next year that is about as close as I'll get to hope realistically. So many rapid changes because of the pandemic has made me realize I have to be more braver in 2022.

My hope for 2022 (ELO wise) is that Bevs book is finally issued although from what he said in a recent Quill episode, it might be a few years yet. C'mon joy, give the old git a kick.....

Happy New Year to you all!
OK, it might be slightly tongue in cheek (or is it?!) but to be more specific about my thinking for this year.....
I predict that in 2022:
1) JLELO will release an album of new material. 2) It will be a single album with 10 new songs. 3) The running time will be an underwhelming 33 minutes. 4) JL will play all of the instruments, apart from some minimal percussion from engineer Steve Jay and a possible cameo from Richard Tandy. 5) The album title will reflect a 'mysterious' space/sci-fi vibe that inevitably ties in with.... 6) The gatefold sleeve and attendant artwork will be littered with yet another reworking of that battered old spaceship concept - plus a sprightly picture of Jeff Lynne on the back. 7) In the UK in particular there will be a couple of different CD editions and three or more vinyl options, involving lenticular sleeves, coloured vinyl and a picture disc. This particular strategy helped From Out Of Nowhere top the UK album charts.
So basically then, a re-run of the last two albums but there's more....
8) Some 2023 UK shows and possibly Europe too will be announced at the album's launch. The abandoned FOON tour somewhat rankles with JL and he wants to put that right. Top ticket category will set you back £140 (face value). 9) The suggestion will be made that US dates may follow but this won't be confirmed until the UK tour is under way. 10) The support act will be Dhani Harrison.
Do feel free to come back in December and mark my work!

Compelling in the sense that it would cause long time fans to spend more money (a finite resource) on a rehash on the recent past? Some people will purchase anything Jeff does but I ceased doing that in 1991 (and that was Into the Great Wide Open), but I am looking for something different and compelling. Many other legacy acts are putting out more compelling releases.....

Many other legacy acts are putting out more compelling releases..... Definitely not compelling to hardcore fans such as the ones on this forum. The only thing that will actually cater to us is some sort of actual release featuring previously unreleased material. I really do hope that there are plans to soon release such a thing, and the awful 50th anniversary playlist-albums were just a stopgap, but it's quite apparent to me and everyone else on here that there is very minimal effort put into any PR for this band. Look how much everyone flipped out when Jeff so much as showed his face in a couple of online videos - the standard is so low! They've got nothing to lose, man... I am ready and willing to drop actual money on something substantial!

I'm actually not that interested in unreleased material. What I would drop serious money on is a post-pandemic (when is that gonna be?) concert featuring lots of well-loved deep cuts from albums that have already been released. An element of surprise could be a rotation of some of the songs on the setlist so that everything wouldn't be totally predictable after the first few shows.
It's been discussed many times on here, I know. We all know that that is never going to happen, but that is the only thing that is really compelling on my ELO wish list. A new album would not be even remotely as interesting to me, but I might invest the $20 or so and buy it (on CD) out of curiosity.

Thirded! I think most hardcore fans of any long-lived bands dream of this. Yet it hardly ever seems to happen, I wonder why?

49th anniversary of the release of ELO2 apparently according to JLs social media people. What I'm intrigued by is what causes them to post these random anniversaries....I mean why wasn't there a 48th anniversary.
And why do we get anniversaries of some singles and not others. Do they use a random song/album generator or something. Its all very obscure
